The Procurement Officer is based in the AJ Design Office- Dubai and reports to the Manager. The position is responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services for the company and maintaining a good relationship with the vendors.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for strategic and operational procurement activities to support various projects and departments;
Optimizing value from supplier relationships through procurement excellence, including reducing risk and managing compliance;
Responsible for supplier and contract negotiations which will involve understanding and knowledge of competitive pricing for packages related to fit out projects and any other materials required;
Ensure compliance to budgets and provide analysis of deviations;
Issue purchase orders for supplies and ensure purchases are made in a timely, flexible, accurate and cost effective way;
Assess status of projects, forecast upcoming demand and ensure timely delivery of required materials and equipment;
Adequate verification of supplied materials and equipment to ensure compliance to agreed quality & quantity;
Where applicable, manage material and equipment inventory prior to delivery to site;
Manage and develop strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers, dealing with any potential issues and concerns in an effective and timely manner
Maintain supplier information in the company database;
Research on new materials for design and cost savings;
Assist in ensuring awareness and company compliance to quality standards

Non essential Functions:
May perform addministrative duties

Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
Good analytical and quantitative reasoning
Strong organizational and time management skills -ability to adhere to deadlines, multi-task and be able to prioritize.
Entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated creativity & innovation in business
Ability to learn quickly and manage workload, work effectively under pressure in demanding environment.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, with exceptional skills in Microsoft excel
Ability to work on own initiative and problem solve
Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise

Qualifications and experience:

Bachelors degree or Diploma in Procurement or related course
At least 2 years work experience in Procurement/ Supply Chain Management
Experience in managing supplier contracts
Excellent negotiation skills
Strong computer skills, including high level of proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point, and Word
Knowledge in overseas procurement processes and procedures
Membership to a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.

Mental Requirements:
Strong problem solving skills, with a bias to a sense of urgency

Computer Skills:
Computer skills are required including the ability to operate spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint and e-mail at highly proficient levels

Certificates, Licenses:
Driving license will be an added advantage

Physical Demands:
The incumbent will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers

Work Environment:
The incumbent is located in a busy office.

Travel/Other requirement:
May travel occasionally both locally and abroad
