A system of competency assessment followed during orientation for new staff
Duties and responsibilities assigned to staff Policies and procedures are available, deployed and observed
Ensure relevant information cascaded to all staff Effectively contribute to the training of health care professionals, by participation in the in-service training programs in order to ensure that the appropriate transference of pharmaceutical knowledge has occurred
Actively promote and implement decisions of management committees
Effectively contribute to the identification and implementation of pharmacy service developments to facilitate the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients
Personnel are aware of the quality management and improvement program and are competent to participate in quality improvement
Meetings are utilised as quality improvement opportunities and minutes kept Internal accreditation standards are met and maintained
Adheres to high standards of safety in carrying out duties within the department
Communication and information flow are maintained on inter- and intra-departmental level
Medication dispensed with proper labeling and instructions regarding the usage, dosage and information on side effects as well as precautions.
Medication dispensed double checked for accuracy
Pharmacy service effectively coordinated to ensure that all prescriptions, requisitions and orders are processed accurately, efficiently and on time
Drug prescription matters communicated with Specialist to ensure maximum benefit in the treatment of patients, in line with local and national guidelines
Chronic patients contacted for refills and follow up of prescriptions
Obsolete stock systems effectively implemented and maintained to reduce expired stock numbers
Stock returned for credits and outstanding orders are managed
Defective products are followed up Doctor / ward specific medication needs are established Inter-hospital stock transfers are controlled
Stock take done according to stock take manual
Stock take variances addressed and explained

Requirements
B.Pharm degree from an accredited Institution
5 Years of relevant experience required
Supervisory experience of at least 3 years
Must hold a valid DHA license
