Role Context
The Manager - Real Estate Audit plays a leadership role within Deloitte’s Audit and Assurance division by managing end-to-end audit engagements for real estate portfolios and property operations. This position combines technical audit expertise, financial reporting oversight, compliance management, and leadership of audit teams while helping clients strengthen governance, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency across real estate assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage full audit engagements for commercial, residential, and mixed-use real estate portfolios
* Evaluate financial statements, lease agreements, property valuations, and supporting documentation for compliance and accuracy
* Review lease accounting practices including IFRS 16 and ASC 842 compliance requirements
* Assess internal controls across property management, lease administration, capital expenditure, and real estate transactions
* Identify operational risks, control weaknesses, and audit findings while recommending practical mitigation strategies
* Coordinate with external auditors, legal teams, finance teams, and property managers to resolve audit issues
* Prepare detailed audit reports, executive findings, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders
* Monitor compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and tax laws related to real estate operations
* Support audit planning, strategy development, and risk assessment across real estate portfolios
* Mentor, supervise, and train junior audit professionals on technical audit procedures and engagement quality
* Stay updated on real estate accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* Professional certification such as CPA, CA, or ACCA is preferred
* Minimum 6 years of audit experience with at least 2 years focused on real estate or property audits
* Strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles and lease accounting under IFRS 16 and ASC 842
* Proven experience with financial statement audits, internal controls assessment, and risk management
* Successful record of audit engagement management and client relationship handling
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines within a fast-paced professional environment
* Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite
* Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management capabilities
* Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking; Arabic is an advantage
