Job Overview
The Safety Manager will oversee the full scope of the Safety Management System for QAS Cargo, ensuring compliance with ICAO, IATA, Qatar Airways, and national safety standards. This includes spearheading risk assessment processes, promoting a just safety culture, executing internal safety audits, managing emergency preparedness, and coaching teams to achieve high safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and enforce a robust safety management framework in line with corporate and international standards
* Lead the implementation of safety programs, behavior-based safety initiatives, and promotional campaigns
* Conduct detailed risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations with actionable follow-ups
* Maintain and monitor operational and occupational health and safety KPIs
* Ensure the safety integration of new equipment, tools, and infrastructure from a project’s early stages
* Align safety strategies with QAS Cargo leadership and corporate goals
* Champion continuous improvement through root cause analysis and data-driven solutions
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Qatar Airways Corporate Safety and regulatory bodies
* Organize and lead Safety Action Groups and contribute to Qatar Airways Group-wide safety initiatives
* Collaborate with training teams to incorporate OH&S elements into job-specific training
* Manage and mentor the QAS Cargo Safety team to uphold high safety standards and develop internal capabilities

Required Skills and Experience

* Minimum 5 years in a safety leadership role in a mid-to-large operational environment
* Hands-on experience in aviation, cargo handling, or ground operations preferred
* Proficient in Safety Management Systems and MS Office applications
* Formal training in risk assessment, incident investigation, and occupational health and safety
* Strong understanding of ICAO, IATA, and Qatar Civil Aviation Authority regulations
* Proven ability to lead multi-cultural teams and coach staff across different levels
* Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
* Demonstrated ability to inspire, influence, and drive cultural change
* Experience in developing safety KPIs, reports, and presenting to senior leadership
