Parsons is hiring a Traffic Systems Engineer - Airport ITS Networks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for a major development within the Airlines/Aviation industry. The engineer will support design review, systems integration, construction supervision, testing, and commissioning of intelligent transportation and roadway traffic-management infrastructure.
The role covers airport landside roads, traffic-control systems, communication interfaces, CCTV, variable-message signs, automatic traffic counters, traffic signals, and incident-detection technology. The Traffic Systems Engineer will connect design requirements with installation and operational performance. Effective coordination across electrical, civil, ICT, security, airfield, and airport systems will prevent interface failures and help deliver a fully integrated traffic-management environment.
Key Responsibilities
The engineer will provide technical assurance across the complete traffic-systems lifecycle.
* Review designs for airport landside traffic-management and intelligent transportation systems.
* Verify compliance with project specifications, local authority requirements, and applicable international standards.
* Review engineering calculations, design reports, drawings, specifications, and technical submissions.
* Support value-engineering studies and system-optimization initiatives.
* Assess CCTV coverage, camera placement, functionality, and communication requirements.
* Review variable-message signs, automatic traffic counters, traffic signals, and incident-detection systems.
* Evaluate traffic-monitoring, control-center, and data-collection solutions.
* Coordinate intelligent transportation systems with airport operational platforms.
* Verify communication-network architecture, data exchange, and system interfaces.
* Coordinate technical requirements with roads, civil, electrical, ICT, security, airfield, mechanical, and architectural teams.
* Review multidisciplinary interfaces through BIM and digital-coordination platforms.
* Identify and resolve design clashes, access constraints, and technical conflicts.
* Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and requests for information.
* Assess product data, system architecture, equipment schedules, and installation proposals.
* Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved designs and specifications.
* Monitor equipment installation, cabling, network connections, configuration, and integration.
* Supervise testing and commissioning activities.
* Witness factory-acceptance and site-acceptance tests.
* Verify system functionality, performance, reliability, and operational readiness.
* Support integrated systems testing with airport operations and connected technologies.
* Coordinate with airport authorities, transportation agencies, consultants, contractors, and utility providers.
* Facilitate technical workshops, approval reviews, and resolution of stakeholder comments.
* Monitor contractor compliance with project-quality requirements.
* Participate in technical inspections, design audits, and quality reviews.
* Prepare engineering reports, review comments, progress updates, and technical recommendations.
* Maintain accurate records of approvals, test results, decisions, and outstanding issues.
* Participate in constructability, operational, safety, and HSE reviews.
* Promote safe engineering and installation practices.
* Support lessons learned and continuous-improvement activities.
Ideal Profile
The preferred candidate is an experienced systems engineer with strong knowledge of traffic technology, airport operations, and multidisciplinary infrastructure delivery.
* Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum eight years of professional experience in traffic systems or intelligent transportation systems.
* Experience supporting airport, highway, transportation, or major infrastructure developments.
* Proven involvement in design review, construction supervision, systems testing, and commissioning.
* Strong knowledge of intelligent transportation and traffic-management technologies.
* Understanding of communication networks, field equipment, control systems, and data interfaces.
* Familiarity with airport operations and landside traffic requirements.
* Experience coordinating traffic systems with civil, electrical, ICT, security, and operational infrastructure.
* Working knowledge of BIM and digital coordination.
* Strong analytical, technical-review, reporting, and communication abilities.
* Professional Engineer registration is preferred.
* International airport-project experience would be advantageous.
* Knowledge of ICAO, ITS, and relevant transportation standards is desirable.
* Previous experience working under FIDIC contracts would be beneficial.
