Strong fashion-category performance depends on having the right products available without creating excessive or unhealthy inventory. The Instock Manager will balance customer demand, vendor capabilities, fulfilment-center capacity and commercial priorities to achieve reliable availability.
The position will influence purchasing and replenishment decisions through forecasting, business analysis and system improvements. Better planning in this role will reduce missed sales, improve inventory efficiency and strengthen the customer shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
The Instock Manager will own inventory outcomes while working with commercial, marketing, vendor and operational teams.
* Manage product availability and overall inventory health.
* Improve in-stock performance across the assigned fashion category.
* Develop inventory plans aligned with customer demand and sales forecasts.
* Monitor vendor fill rates, lead times and operational efficiency.
* Work with vendors to resolve recurring supply and availability issues.
* Improve inventory movement within fulfilment centers.
* Develop systematic forecasting and replenishment practices.
* Manage key system inputs supporting automated replenishment.
* Partner with Vendor Managers to increase sales and profitability.
* Coordinate with Marketing Managers on category-growth initiatives.
* Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities to improve margins.
* Evaluate inventory risks, constraints and emerging business opportunities.
* Work with internal teams to improve purchasing tools and workflows.
* Strengthen vendor-management processes and supporting systems.
* Lead cross-functional process-improvement projects.
* Contribute to system-development and automation initiatives.
* Measure the commercial and operational impact of completed improvements.
* Maintain clear ownership of projects, decisions and category results.
Ideal Profile
The successful candidate will be comfortable making inventory decisions using large datasets, commercial priorities and operational constraints. They should be able to move between detailed analysis and cross-functional leadership while maintaining accountability for measurable results.
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Supply Chain or Operations.
* Alternatively, at least 3 years of relevant professional or military experience.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in operations, technology, retail, consulting or finance.
* At least 4 years of supply-chain, inventory-management or project-management experience.
* Minimum 3 years of experience using Microsoft Excel.
* Demonstrated ownership of business or operational results.
* Experience leading process-improvement initiatives.
* Exposure to systems development and project management.
* Knowledge of statistical inventory-control principles is preferred.
* Experience with Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is advantageous.
* Ability to influence vendors and internal stakeholders.
* Strong analytical judgment and structured problem-solving skills.
