Role Context
This position supports AECOM\'s Buildings and Places business line within its Middle East and Africa operations. The Architectural Inspector will oversee the quality and compliance of architectural installations, finishes and building components throughout project execution. The role involves reviewing contractor submissions, performing inspections, documenting progress and supporting corrective measures when work does not meet approved requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor architectural engineering activities against approved inspection plans, drawings, codes and specifications.
* Coordinate with the Senior Architectural Engineer, project engineers and managers for technical guidance.
* Review work variations and help minimize potential schedule and cost impacts.
* Monitor contractor documents, material submissions and shop drawings for quality or functional issues.
* Verify contractor compliance with the approved Quality Control Plan.
* Follow established project protocols for inspecting architectural works.
* Monitor safety requirements associated with architectural installations.
* Report on the progress and quality status of architectural works.
* Support the processing of no-objection certificates and approvals from relevant authorities.
* Help expedite delayed client, contractor and authority approvals.
* Liaise with contractor management teams regarding submissions and approval workflows.
* Inspect architectural finishes, structural interfaces and building components.
* Verify work against approved shop drawings, specifications and method statements.
* Perform architectural work inspections and material inspections.
* Evaluate tests used to confirm architectural quality requirements.
* Issue non-conformance reports and assist contractors with corrective actions.
* Confirm that inspection reports are accurate and compliant with project requirements.
* Maintain daily site diaries, progress photographs and complete inspection records.
* Record submittals, tests, completed inspections and executed work.
* Coordinate with the site team to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
* Assist with inspections of completed works and project closeout activities.
* Follow the Contract Administration Procedures Manual.
* Monitor HSE matters and participate in relevant training sessions and meetings.
* Perform additional duties assigned by the direct manager.
Ideal Profile
* Relevant academic or technical qualification in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or a related discipline.
* Practical experience inspecting architectural works on construction projects.
* Strong understanding of architectural drawings, specifications and method statements.
* Familiarity with construction quality control plans and inspection procedures.
* Ability to identify non-conforming work and support appropriate corrective actions.
* Experience maintaining site diaries, inspection records and progress reports.
* Understanding of architectural finishes, materials and building components.
* Ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, contractors, clients and authorities.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
* Clear communication, organization and problem-solving abilities.
