Role Summary
Concept Architect in Dubai will support AECOM’s design team by developing creative architectural concepts, preparing design studies, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to projects from early concept stages through design development and construction administration support. This role is ideal for a design-focused architecture professional with strong creative ability, technical understanding, presentation skills, and interest in delivering high-quality architectural solutions for diverse projects in the UAE.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop innovative architectural concepts that respond to client requirements, site context, project goals, and design standards.
* Support senior design leadership in preparing concept design options, design narratives, massing studies, and architectural presentations.
* Translate creative ideas into coordinated architectural layouts, sketches, diagrams, models, and visual design packages.
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, planners, interior designers, landscape teams, and technical specialists.
* Assist in preparing drawings, design reports, presentation boards, 3D views, and documentation for client reviews and internal design workshops.
* Contribute to the development of architectural solutions that balance aesthetic quality, functionality, sustainability, constructability, and technical precision.
* Review design inputs and coordinate with project teams to ensure architectural concepts align with engineering, planning, and authority requirements.
* Support design development by refining layouts, materials, forms, spatial arrangements, facade concepts, and project design details.
* Participate in project meetings, design reviews, coordination sessions, and workshops with internal teams and stakeholders.
* Research design trends, materials, building systems, sustainability strategies, and international architectural references to support strong concept development.
* Assist in resolving design coordination issues and support the preparation of clear responses to technical or client comments.
* Prepare and maintain organized design files, drawings, models, presentation materials, and project documentation.
* Support construction administration activities when required by reviewing design intent, responding to queries, and coordinating with project teams.
* Ensure design outputs follow AECOM quality standards, project requirements, and professional architectural practices.
* Contribute fresh ideas and design thinking that support creative, practical, and future-ready architectural solutions.
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or a related design discipline.
* Master’s Degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or a related field is an advantage.
* Experience in architectural concept design, design development, multidisciplinary coordination, and presentation preparation.
* Strong design portfolio showing creativity, spatial thinking, architectural composition, and ability to communicate design ideas clearly.
* Good understanding of architectural drawings, building layouts, facade concepts, materials, sustainability principles, and design documentation.
* Ability to work from concept stage through design development and support construction administration when required.
* Proficiency in design and presentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, Enscape, or similar software.
* Knowledge of BIM workflows and coordination with engineering disciplines is preferred.
* Understanding of UAE or Middle East architectural project requirements is an advantage.
* Strong communication, coordination, visualization, problem-solving, and design presentation skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with experienced design leaders and cross-functional project teams.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance creative vision and technical accuracy.
