The technician will investigate faults using diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams, service literature, physical inspections, and systematic testing rather than relying on unnecessary component replacement.
The role also supports overall workshop performance. Correct first-time repairs reduce repeat visits, while early identification of additional mechanical or electrical defects improves vehicle reliability and creates legitimate aftersales revenue opportunities. Key Responsibilities
* Perform comprehensive diagnostics on vehicles experiencing mechanical, electrical, electronic, or drivability problems.
* Carry out scheduled maintenance and repair work accurately according to approved workshop procedures.
* Use diagnostic scanners, electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and workshop machinery safely and correctly.
* Interpret complex electrical wiring diagrams to trace circuits and isolate faults.
* Consult manufacturer service literature, repair procedures, technical bulletins, and specifications before completing complex work.
* Diagnose faults involving sensors, actuators, control modules, wiring, connectors, and related electronic systems.
* Conduct mechanical inspections and determine appropriate repair or replacement requirements.
* Complete repairs with close attention to workmanship, technical accuracy, and vehicle safety.
* Test repaired systems and verify that identified faults have been successfully resolved.
* Minimize repeat repairs through disciplined diagnosis and post-repair verification.
* Inspect vehicles undergoing service and identify additional maintenance or repair requirements.
* Document additional findings clearly so Service Advisors can communicate necessary work to customers.
* Support appropriate upselling of genuine repair requirements identified during inspection or diagnosis.
* Prepare detailed technical reports for warranty submissions and repair authorization.
* Record diagnostic findings, test results, repair procedures, replaced parts, and completed corrective actions.
* Provide diagnostic assistance to other technicians when they encounter difficult or unusual vehicle faults.
* Share practical troubleshooting knowledge to improve workshop diagnostic capability.
* Escalate unresolved technical problems when manufacturer or engineering assistance is required.
* Follow approved manufacturer procedures when carrying out warranty-related repairs.
* Maintain proper care of diagnostic devices, tools, workshop equipment, and assigned resources.
* Apply safe working practices during electrical, mechanical, and electronic repair activities.
* Support electric vehicle diagnostic and repair requirements according to individual competence and authorization.
* Observe appropriate safety precautions when working around EV electrical and high-voltage components.
* Maintain awareness of new vehicle systems, electronic technologies, diagnostic methods, and manufacturer repair procedures.
* Road-test vehicles when required and authorized to reproduce faults or confirm successful repairs.
* Maintain a valid driver\'s license for workshop and vehicle testing responsibilities.
