Role Context
The Branch Accountant supports the financial integrity of day-to-day
Working in a high-volume automotive environment requires disciplined transaction review, timely reconciliation, and close coordination with sales, operations, suppliers, customers, and central finance teams. Accurate handling of vehicle pricing, discounts, expenses, and banking activities contributes directly to stronger financial control and dependable branch performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Review daily dealership transactions including invoices, receipts, customer collections, supplier payments, and other branch accounting entries.
* Support financial processing of vehicle sales by checking deal documentation, pricing, discounts, approvals, and supporting records.
* Verify that discount requests and commercial adjustments comply with approved authority limits and internal policies.
* Monitor daily cash collections and ensure receipts are recorded accurately against relevant customer accounts.
* Review bank deposits and reconcile deposited amounts with recorded branch collections.
* Maintain control over petty cash transactions, supporting documentation, replenishments, and closing balances.
* Prepare customer account reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unmatched transactions.
* Reconcile vendor balances and follow up on differences, missing invoices, credit notes, or payment discrepancies.
* Assist with month-end closing activities by preparing supporting schedules, accrual information, provisions, and journal documentation.
* Track branch operating expenses and review purchase orders and supplier invoices for coding accuracy and appropriate authorization.
* Identify unusual spending patterns, duplicate charges, incorrect allocations, or expenses exceeding approved limits.
* Maintain accurate finance trackers and supporting schedules using Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
* Work with branch and finance teams to resolve transaction discrepancies before reporting deadlines.
* Ensure financial documentation is complete, traceable, and available for internal or external audit review.
* Apply delegation of authority requirements to relevant accounting and commercial transactions.
* Support compliance with internal controls, accounting procedures, financial governance, and audit requirements.
* Use SAP or related ERP systems for transaction processing, account review, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
* Manage competing daily priorities while ensuring critical month-end tasks are completed within required timelines.
Ideal Profile
* Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a closely related discipline.
* 2-4 years of practical experience in accounting, branch finance, dealership accounting, or high-volume transactional finance.
* Sound understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial controls, and transaction documentation.
* Experience supporting automotive dealership finance operations is highly valuable.
* Working knowledge of ERP platforms, particularly SAP.
* Strong numerical accuracy with the ability to detect discrepancies in financial records and supporting documents.
* Comfortable handling customer accounts, vendor balances, cash transactions, and banking reconciliations.
* Good Microsoft Excel capability for trackers, reconciliations, schedules, and routine financial analysis.
* Familiarity with accruals, provisions, journals, and month-end closing procedures.
* Strong attention to detail when reviewing pricing, discounts, approvals, invoices, and supporting documentation.
* Able to organize daily finance activities effectively in a transaction-heavy branch environment.
* Capable of working with sales, branch operations, suppliers, and finance colleagues to resolve outstanding issues.
