Role Context
The Branch Accountant supports the financial integrity of dealership operations by reviewing daily transactions, maintaining accurate reconciliations, and ensuring branch
A key part of the position involves checking the financial elements of vehicle deals, including pricing, discounts, approvals, collections, supplier costs, and supporting documentation. Reliable branch accounting helps improve reporting accuracy, protects margins, strengthens audit readiness, and supports timely month-end closure.
Key Responsibilities
* Review daily branch accounting transactions including invoices, receipts, customer collections, and vendor payments.
* Support accurate posting of dealership transactions within the relevant finance and ERP systems.
* Review vehicle deal documentation to confirm pricing, discounts, financial terms, and required approvals.
* Verify that discount requests comply with approved authority levels and supporting documentation requirements.
* Monitor customer cash collections and ensure receipts are recorded accurately and on time.
* Reconcile bank deposits against branch collection records and investigate differences promptly.
* Maintain control over petty cash activity and ensure balances agree with supporting vouchers and records.
* Prepare customer account reconciliations and follow up on outstanding or unmatched items.
* Review vendor balances and assist in resolving invoice, payment, or account discrepancies.
* Support petty cash reconciliation and ensure all expenditure is appropriately documented.
* Assist with month-end close by preparing accrual inputs, provisions, journal support, and reconciliation schedules.
* Track branch operating expenses against approved budgets and identify unusual or incorrect charges.
* Review purchase orders and supplier invoices for coding accuracy and proper authorization.
* Highlight overspending, miscoding, missing documentation, or transaction irregularities to the relevant finance stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate finance trackers and ensure outstanding actions are followed through to closure.
* Support branch and finance teams with transaction queries and accounting documentation requirements.
* Apply financial policies, internal controls, and Delegation of Authority requirements consistently.
* Maintain records that support internal and external audit requirements.
* Use SAP and related systems to review, process, and track branch finance transactions.
* Prioritize daily accounting activities while meeting strict month-end reporting deadlines.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline and have a sound understanding of basic accounting principles, financial controls, and reconciliation processes.
The position requires 2-4 years of experience in accounting, branch finance, dealership finance, or another high-volume transactional environment. Previous automotive dealership exposure is particularly useful because the role involves vehicle deal reviews, customer collections, supplier transactions, and branch-level operating expenses.
Experience using ERP platforms, especially SAP, is important. Candidates should also be confident using Excel for reconciliations, trackers, financial checks, and transaction follow-up.
Accuracy, disciplined documentation, numerical confidence, and the ability to manage competing daily priorities are essential. The role suits someone who can work methodically under deadline pressure while maintaining strong control over transactional detail.
