Role Context
The Senior Financial Analyst - Business Finance will support strategic and operational decision-making by preparing detailed financial models, feasibility reviews, management reports, and performance dashboards. The role works closely with finance, business operations, treasury, tax, and senior leadership to assess profitability, working capital movement, cost trends, income projections, and business case viability. By producing accurate analysis and timely insight, the position helps protect financial stability, improve planning quality, and support sustainable growth across the automotive business.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop detailed feasibility models for operational projects, investment proposals, and business cases using accurate assumptions, financial data, market inputs, and recovery period calculations.
* Prepare financial feasibility studies that assess expenditure, location suitability, market potential, profitability, payback period, and commercial viability for senior management review.
* Deliver clear P and L reporting with analysis of revenue, costs, margins, trends, performance gaps, and corrective action opportunities.
* Review balance sheet movements, working capital positions, operational financials, and key variances to support better decision-making.
* Build and improve Management Information Systems reports that capture financial, commercial, and operational performance indicators.
* Prepare timely MIS reports, dashboards, and performance summaries for business leaders to monitor operational efficiency and financial progress.
* Collect and validate data from internal systems, external sources, market inputs, and business teams relating to costs, income, expenses, and financial assumptions.
* Conduct income projections, expense forecasting, variance analysis, and trend reviews to support planning, budgeting, and business performance evaluation.
* Support senior management with financial insight related to finance, treasury, tax, business planning, and strategic review requirements.
* Provide practical advice on financial trends, risk areas, performance deviations, and corrective actions required to improve business results.
* Maintain accuracy, consistency, and reliability in all financial reports, feasibility models, and management presentations.
* Work with cross-functional teams to understand business drivers, operational challenges, cost structures, and profitability improvement opportunities.
* Present complex financial findings in a clear and business-focused manner for senior stakeholders.
* Support continuous improvement in reporting quality, data structure, dashboard design, and financial analysis processes.
Ideal Profile
* Postgraduate degree in Finance, Financial Management, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
* ACA Chartered Accountant qualification or equivalent professional certification.
* Strong knowledge of financial management, information systems, financial analysis, treasury, tax, and management reporting.
* Previous experience in a senior financial analyst, business finance, feasibility analysis, MIS reporting, or FP and A role within a high-standard organization.
* Experience within automotive, retail, dealership, distribution, leasing, aftersales, or multi-business operations will be an advantage.
* Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to build feasibility studies, business cases, projections, and profitability reviews.
* Strong command of P and L reporting, balance sheet analysis, working capital assessment, variance analysis, and KPI interpretation.
* Proficiency in MIS reporting, dashboards, financial systems, Excel, and business presentation tools.
* Excellent numeracy, analytical thinking, commercial awareness, and problem-solving ability.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial insights to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
* Good interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and support leadership decision-making.
