Technical Advisor - EV Diagnostics

- EV Diagnostics will act as a technical bridge between customers, service advisors, diagnostic technicians, warranty teams, and workshop leadership. As BYD continues to grow in electric mobility, battery innovation, and sustainable transport, this role ensures that advanced vehicle concerns are understood correctly, diagnosed efficiently, and resolved with professional technical discipline. The position has direct impact on workshop productivity, repair quality, warranty compliance, customer satisfaction, technician capability, and brand trust across the UAE aftersales network.

Key Responsibilities

* Support service advisors during customer intake for advanced diagnostic cases by confirming reported symptoms and clarifying technical concerns.
* Conduct road tests and customer observations when required to understand, verify, and replicate complex vehicle issues.
* Provide hands-on diagnostic support to technicians during repair work to ensure faults are identified accurately and resolved efficiently.
* Guide diagnostic technicians through technical procedures, test plans, repair logic, and fault-tracing steps for electric, hybrid, and conventional vehicle systems.
* Review warranty repair cases and ensure technical reports, supporting documents, diagnostic findings, and repair evidence meet principal requirements.
* Coordinate with warranty teams, technical support teams, workshop supervisors, and branch teams to improve repair quality and process compliance.
* Ensure diagnostic tools, workshop equipment, calibration requirements, and software updates are maintained according to distributor and principal standards.
* Share technical information with technicians through on-the-job coaching, practical demonstrations, service bulletins, and continuous improvement feedback.
* Support Fix It First Time performance by reducing repeat repairs, improving diagnostic accuracy, and strengthening repair verification.
* Follow HSSE, 5S, SOPs, workshop safety requirements, and principal guidelines in all technical and operational activities.
* Identify recurring technical issues and escalate them with clear evidence, repair history, fault codes, and customer concern details.
* Work closely with Service Advisors to explain technical findings clearly so customers receive accurate, professional, and confidence-building updates.
* Support workshop controllers, planners, and supervisors with technical input that improves job allocation, repair flow, and completion timelines.
* Contribute to a high-quality workshop environment by promoting discipline, safe practices, clean work areas, and accurate technical documentation.

Ideal Profile

* High school qualification in automotive technology or a related technical field.
* IMI certification or similar EV or PHEV qualification is preferred.
* Valid UAE driving license is mandatory.
* Minimum 5 years of overall automotive dealership workshop experience.
* At least 2 years of experience in a Technical Advisor role, or 3 years of experience as a Diagnostic Master Technician.
* Strong technical diagnostic capability within a modern automotive workshop environment.
* Experience supporting advanced diagnostics, technical reporting, warranty approvals, repair verification, and technician coaching.
* Previous experience with electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, BYD products, or modern high-voltage vehicle systems is an advantage.
* Hands-on knowledge of diagnostic tools, workshop equipment, scan tools, calibration requirements, and technical repair procedures.
* Good understanding of warranty processes, principal standards, customer concern reporting, and service documentation.
* Ability to identify, replicate, analyze, and resolve complex faults under time pressure.
* Strong communication skills in English, with Arabic language skills highly preferred.
* Customer-focused approach with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and professionally.
* Strong attention to detail, practical problem-solving ability, and commitment to repair quality.
* Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural workshop environment.
