Technical Support Specialist - Electric Vehicles

Role Context
Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles require advanced diagnostic knowledge, accurate reporting, and close coordination between service centers and vehicle manufacturers. This role will help Al-Futtaim Automotive resolve difficult technical cases efficiently while improving workshop capability and protecting the customer experience.

Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, the specialist will validate reported concerns, assist technicians remotely and on-site, prepare Quality Case documentation, and coordinate unresolved matters with the OEM. The position will also strengthen technical standards through coaching, failure analysis, and consistent follow-up.

Key Responsibilities
The role will combine hands-on diagnostic support with technical reporting, manufacturer coordination, and workshop capability development.

* Visit service locations to investigate electric vehicle technical concerns and document findings.
* Validate reported faults before initiating further diagnostic or escalation procedures.
* Provide remote assistance to technicians handling complex electrical and vehicle-system issues.
* Conduct field visits when concerns cannot be resolved through remote support.
* Diagnose electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid powertrain, electronics, and onboard system faults.
* Prepare detailed technical information reports and submit complete supporting data to the brand principal.
* Develop Quality Case reports for review by the Technical Support Manager and OEM.
* Follow up on submitted reports until a technically sound resolution is provided.
* Escalate unresolved, recurring, or safety-related concerns to the Technical Support Manager.
* Perform failed-component analysis and coordinate the shipment of relevant parts to the OEM.
* Deliver on-the-job coaching to workshop technicians and service teams.
* Ensure required diagnostic equipment, software-update tools, and specialized tools are available and operational.
* Distribute current technical literature, repair information, and service bulletins to relevant locations.
* Help service teams apply manufacturer procedures and modern diagnostic methods consistently.
* Support timely technical resolutions that contribute to a positive customer experience.

Ideal Profile
Candidates should have at least five years of experience in automotive repair or dealer service operations. A minimum of three years should have been completed as a Master Technician or in an equivalent advanced diagnostic position.

A qualification in automobile, mechanical, or electrical engineering is preferred. Extensive and specialized training in electric vehicles may also provide the required technical foundation.

The ideal candidate has practical experience with both electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle brands, including powertrain systems, electronics, onboard diagnostics, software-supported repairs, and modern fault-finding methods. Strong technical writing, structured problem-solving, and the ability to coach workshop teams are essential.
