The Vehicle Diagnostic Specialist will combine practical mechanical experience with structured electrical and electronic fault-finding to determine root causes accurately and avoid unnecessary parts replacement.
The position also strengthens workshop capability by helping colleagues with difficult diagnostic cases and producing complete technical records for warranty and repair decisions. Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, and drivability faults on customer vehicles.
* Complete maintenance and repair work accurately within assigned workshop timelines.
* Apply systematic diagnostic procedures to identify the actual cause of vehicle problems.
* Use diagnostic scanners, multimeters, testing equipment, hand tools, and workshop machinery safely.
* Read and interpret advanced vehicle wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
* Consult manufacturer service manuals, technical specifications, repair procedures, and service bulletins.
* Trace electrical circuits and investigate faults involving wiring, connectors, sensors, actuators, modules, and control systems.
* Perform mechanical repairs and component replacements in accordance with approved technical procedures.
* Check completed work and conduct functional testing before releasing vehicles from repair.
* Support first-time-fix performance by confirming that original customer concerns have been properly resolved.
* Identify additional mechanical or electrical defects discovered during scheduled servicing or repair.
* Communicate legitimate additional repair requirements through the appropriate workshop or Service Advisor process.
* Support revenue growth by identifying necessary maintenance or repair opportunities based on actual vehicle condition.
* Prepare clear technical reports for warranty claims and repair authorization.
* Record fault codes, test findings, repairs performed, components replaced, and verification results.
* Assist fellow technicians with challenging diagnostic problems when additional technical expertise is required.
* Guide less experienced technicians in logical fault-finding and correct use of technical information.
* Escalate unresolved technical cases to Supervisors, Engineers, or manufacturer support channels where necessary.
* Carry out warranty-related work according to manufacturer procedures and documentation requirements.
* Maintain high standards of workmanship across all maintenance, diagnostic, and repair activities.
* Protect diagnostic tools and workshop equipment from misuse or damage.
* Follow established health and safety procedures while working on vehicle systems.
* Apply appropriate precautions when servicing vehicles equipped with electrified or high-voltage systems.
* Support electric vehicle diagnosis and repair activities where trained and authorized.
* Keep technical knowledge current as vehicle electrical architecture, software, and propulsion technologies evolve.
* Perform authorized road tests to reproduce faults or verify successful repairs.
