Role Context
The Audit Manager - Business Credit will act as a subject matter expert within Group Internal Audit, covering Personal Banking, Commercial Banking, subsidiaries, coverage functions, credit activities, and related business processes across the UAE and FAB’s international network. This role provides assurance to management by reviewing governance, risk management, internal controls, regulatory compliance, data integrity, transaction processing, asset safeguarding, and the effectiveness of corrective actions. The position requires strong audit judgement, business and credit knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to influence management through clear advice and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and execute audits across FAB Group business, product, coverage, and credit-related activities in the UAE and international locations.
* Ensure assigned audits are completed in line with the annual audit plan, approved objectives, timelines, methodology, and quality expectations.
* Review Personal Banking, Commercial Banking, Wealth, credit, credit risk management, relationship management, and related peripheral activities.
* Assess whether line management has identified, classified, and managed key risks within business and credit processes.
* Evaluate governance, risk management, and internal control procedures to confirm whether they are adequate, effective, efficient, and aligned with FAB standards.
* Identify control weaknesses, process gaps, regulatory issues, operational risks, and areas requiring corrective action.
* Report and escalate significant audit findings in a timely manner to management and relevant stakeholders.
* Negotiate and agree documented management action plans with unit management to resolve audit issues.
* Ensure audit reports are reviewed, finalized, discussed, and closed with GIA management and clients within required timelines after fieldwork.
* Maintain and update the audit universe for relevant business, product, credit, operations, and support-related activities across FAB Group jurisdictions.
* Prepare and maintain risk assessments for process streams identified in the audit universe.
* Establish, update, and maintain audit programs in the central audit management tool.
* Promote periodic self-assessment of risks and controls by working closely with business units.
* Review whether data and transaction processing meet standards of reliability, integrity, and availability.
* Assess whether assets are safeguarded and whether resources are being used efficiently and effectively.
* Provide governance, risk management, and control advice to unit management based on market best practices.
* Act as an audit business partner for line managers through regular meetings, emerging risk discussions, and control gap reviews.
* Follow up on pending audit issues and confirm that corrective actions are fully and properly implemented.
* Conduct investigations, special reviews, and additional tasks assigned by the Head of Audit or GCAO.
* Prepare and review audit MIS, dashboards, and audit committee presentation materials related to assigned audit activity.
* Monitor financial performance of assigned audit areas against approved budgets and report variances where required.
* Provide guidance, on-the-job training, and knowledge sharing to junior audit colleagues.
* Support talent development, ethical conduct, and a value-driven culture within the audit team.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of audit practices, processes, working programs, and methodologies based on industry standards and regulatory expectations.
* Maintain updated knowledge of banking products, credit processes, economic trends, regulatory developments, and international audit practices.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders while preserving independence, professionalism, and audit objectivity.
* Execute all work in line with GIA policies, guidance notes, procedures, practice notes, FAB governance requirements, and quality standards.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
* Relevant postgraduate qualification, professional audit certification, risk certification, accounting qualification, or similar credential is desirable.
* Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with an international bank, major financial institution, or Big 4 firm.
* Internal audit experience is strongly preferred.
* At least 5 years in similar roles with progressively increasing managerial responsibility in audit, risk management, governance, or control functions.
* Expert knowledge of business banking, personal banking, commercial banking, credit activities, credit risk processes, relationship management, and associated risks.
* Strong understanding of regulatory environments in the UAE and relevant international jurisdictions where large banks operate.
* Ability to review business processes, credit processes, operational controls, regulatory controls, and governance frameworks end to end.
* Strong leadership capability with the ability to guide junior auditors, manage audit execution, and influence stakeholders.
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess risk, identify control gaps, interpret audit evidence, and develop practical recommendations.
* Highly developed problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex audit matters and special investigations.
* Self-directed and able to manage multiple audits, reports, stakeholder discussions, and deadlines under pressure.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for audit reporting, management discussions, committee materials, and issue escalation.
* Strong relationship management ability with the confidence to challenge business areas professionally while maintaining constructive engagement.
* Good understanding of audit management tools, MIS reporting, dashboards, risk assessment techniques, and internal control frameworks.
* Ability to keep pace with economic trends, banking practices, product changes, and regulatory expectations affecting audit planning and execution.
