Position Overview
First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is seeking a Director - Loan Portfolio Management for an on-site role in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Director will own a defined loan portfolio and take accountability for portfolio optimization and the ongoing management of the existing loan book. This senior position requires independent judgment, hands-on execution, strong credit and portfolio management expertise, and the ability to escalate complex or sensitive matters when appropriate.

Portfolio Ownership and Optimization
The Director will assume direct ownership of an assigned loan portfolio, balancing portfolio performance, credit considerations, capital usage,
and broader balance-sheet objectives. The role requires an active approach to portfolio management and the ability to assess trade-offs when determining appropriate actions across the loan book.
Loan Portfolio Management - Existing Book
A significant part of the position involves ongoing management of existing loan exposures. The Director will apply extensive experience in areas including waivers, amendments, covenant management, annual reviews, and credit monitoring.
The role requires the ability to execute portfolio actions and manage deteriorating or problem credits, applying sound judgment to determine when matters require escalation.
Balance Sheet, Risk, Credit and Stakeholder Management
The position requires a strong understanding of loan structures, credit risk, capital usage, and the implications of portfolio decisions. The Director will use detailed knowledge of corporate financials, legal concepts, and loan mechanics to develop clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
First-hand experience documenting loan transactions is required, together with the ability to analyse complex information and communicate well-reasoned recommendations effectively.
Portfolio Transformation and Strategic Initiatives
The Director will contribute to portfolio transformation, systems-related work, and strategic initiatives connected with the management and optimization of the loan portfolio.
The role requires an ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure, and maintain high-quality output when operating against demanding deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor\'s degree in Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
* MBA or a relevant professional qualification such as CFA is advantageous.
* 12+ years of relevant banking-sector experience.
* At least 5 years of experience in corporate loan markets with portfolio management responsibilities.
* Significant experience in loan portfolio management, credit risk, or active asset management within wholesale banking or private credit.
* Demonstrated experience managing existing loan portfolios, including waivers, amendments, covenants, annual reviews, and credit monitoring.
* Proven experience executing portfolio actions and managing deteriorating or problem credits.
* Strong understanding of loan structures, credit risk, capital usage, and portfolio trade-offs.
* Sound understanding of corporate financials, legal concepts, and loan mechanics.
* First-hand experience documenting loan transactions.
* Excellent analytical capabilities and the ability to present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
* Strong awareness of UAE, regional, and international markets.
* Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with P&L responsibility.
