Role Context
The Director - Private Banking NRI will lead relationship growth and strategic client coverage within the Non-Resident Indian private banking segment. This position requires deep knowledge of NRI banking regulations, private wealth products, international banking laws, investment strategies, portfolio reviews, and client acquisition. The role combines senior relationship management, business planning, market analysis, team leadership, compliance discipline, and high-level client engagement to deliver exceptional banking experiences for HNWI and UHNWI clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute strategic plans to expand the NRI private banking client base across the UAE and international markets.
* Manage and grow relationships with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth NRI clients.
* Provide tailored financial solutions based on client goals, risk appetite, liquidity needs, investment preferences, and cross-border requirements.
* Lead a team of relationship managers and support them in achieving business targets, client acquisition goals, and service quality standards.
* Drive business development through referrals, client networking, market intelligence, international outreach, and relationship-led acquisition.
* Identify cross-selling opportunities across the group and promote collaboration with internal departments and global offices.
* Analyse market trends, client behaviour, competitor activity, and segment needs to support innovative product and service development.
* Conduct regular portfolio reviews and risk assessments for clients, recommending suitable investment and wealth management strategies.
* Ensure compliance with UAE and international banking regulations, especially requirements related to NRI banking and cross-border wealth services.
* Organize and participate in senior client meetings, private banking events, networking sessions, and business development activities.
* Maintain strong relationships with key clients by delivering responsive service, proactive communication, and trusted financial guidance.
* Collaborate with investment, product, risk, compliance, operations, and client service teams to improve client experience and execution quality.
* Monitor geopolitical, economic, regulatory, and market developments affecting the NRI segment and adjust client strategies where required.
* Support revenue growth through portfolio deepening, new client acquisition, relationship expansion, and disciplined opportunity management.
* Use CRM systems and financial modelling tools to manage client pipelines, track relationship activity, and support decision-making.
* Promote a client-first culture within the team while maintaining strong risk awareness, governance, confidentiality, and professional standards.
* Represent the bank professionally during local and international client meetings, business trips, and market engagement activities.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline from a reputable university.
* MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in private banking.
* At least 5 years of experience specifically in NRI banking.
* Proven track record of managing and growing HNWI and UHNWI client portfolios.
* Strong knowledge of NRI banking regulations, wealth management products, investment solutions, and cross-border banking requirements.
* Deep understanding of the UAE financial market and international banking laws.
* Strong business development ability with experience acquiring, retaining, and expanding private banking relationships.
* Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage sophisticated clients, family offices, entrepreneurs, and senior decision makers.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound financial decisions.
* Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to guide, motivate, and develop a team of banking professionals.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills in English.
