Position Overview
First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is seeking a Head of Investment Advisory - Private Banking for an on-site role in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The position combines leadership of the Investment Advisory teams in Abu Dhabi and Dubai with direct responsibility for advising select Private Banking and Key Client Group clients. Investment
Advisory Leadership
* Manage the Investment Advisory teams across Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
* Attract and retain experienced investment professionals.
* Lead the team while personally managing a portfolio of key clients.
* Support Investment Advisors in constructing portfolios aligned with FAB\'s house view, client risk profiles, and investment objectives.
* Ensure investment advice is delivered appropriately and in accordance with applicable local regulations and international standards.
* Maintain current records of investment proposals and portfolio reviews.
* Provide leadership and guidance while supporting a high standard of investment advisory delivery.
Client Investment Advisory
Through the Investment Advisory team and through direct client engagement, provide complex, active cross-asset investment advisory services to selected Private Banking and Key Client Group clients.
* Work directly with clients on the ongoing management of their investment portfolios.
* Understand stated investment goals, objectives, and risk profiles when developing recommendations.
* Generate investment ideas reflecting market trends, client profiles, and FAB investment views.
* Deliver investment ideas to clients in a suitable and appropriate manner.
* Manage the execution and follow-up of Investment Advisory mandates in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
* Conduct ongoing risk management and monitoring of advisory mandates.
* Recommend portfolio adjustments and rebalancing when appropriate.
* Monitor investment performance and identify changes required in portfolio structure.
Portfolio Construction and Asset Allocation
The role requires a detailed understanding of global markets and multiple asset classes to support portfolio construction and active advisory decisions.
* Implement portfolio strategies using appropriate investment products from selected securities and Focus Lists.
* Tailor portfolios to individual client risk profiles and investment objectives.
* Identify and communicate material deviations between portfolios and agreed client profiles or objectives.
* Apply asset allocation, portfolio construction, and risk management principles to advisory portfolios.
* Promote appropriate investment opportunities across relevant asset classes in line with FAB investment views and Tactical Allocation.
* Participate in publishing and maintaining Focus Lists covering equities, fixed income, and managed investments.
* Support portfolio performance while remaining within each client\'s investment objectives and profile.
Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
* Partner with Coverage teams in acquiring and retaining Investment Advisory mandates.
* Present Investment Advisory services directly to selected Private Banking and Key Client Group clients.
* Maintain regular interaction with clients regarding their portfolios.
* Resolve investment-related issues associated with the management of client assets.
* Take a holistic view of client investment relationships across Advisory, Discretionary, and Execution Only portfolios.
* Work proactively with Relationship Managers on business development activities.
* Prepare and deliver investment pitches and provide portfolio advice during client meetings.
* Jointly own relevant Advisory KPIs covering Assets under Management and revenues and allocate targets across the team.
Advisory Governance and Execution
* Ensure portfolios managed by the team remain aligned with client risk profiles and objectives.
* Ensure appropriate processes are followed when presenting and marketing investment solutions.
* Maintain adherence to relevant Bank policies.
* Oversee the processing of client instructions from investment idea presentation through trade booking.
* Monitor advisory portfolios for investment and risk considerations.
* Ensure investment recommendations and portfolio actions follow applicable suitability and advisory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
* Master\'s degree or relevant industry qualification may also be applicable.
* At least 10+ years of experience in a similar environment.
* CPA, CFA, or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
* Excellent knowledge of financial markets and financial tools.
* Deep understanding of the global economy and capital markets.
* Strong knowledge of equity and fixed income analysis.
* Detailed understanding of asset allocation and portfolio construction.
* Strong knowledge of risk management for client investment portfolios.
