Role Context
The Manager - Corporate Finance will work within the Global Corporate Finance team to support lending origination and transaction execution for wholesale banking clients. This role requires close coordination with senior corporate banking finance members, relationship managers, coverage teams, credit risk, GCF deal teams, and other internal stakeholders. The position helps identify lending opportunities, assess transaction structures, prepare financing models, support due diligence, negotiate terms, and contribute to broader capital markets and banking mandates through disciplined internal collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the origination, structuring, evaluation, and execution of vanilla and structured finance transactions for wholesale banking clients.
* Work with relationship managers, coverage teams, credit risk, and senior corporate finance professionals to assess new lending opportunities.
* Assist in structuring transactions across leveraged and acquisition finance, project finance, asset-backed finance, real estate finance, and corporate lending.
* Develop financing models where required, including sensitivity testing, scenario analysis, repayment assessment, and transaction return analysis.
* Analyze proposed deal structures, borrower fundamentals, business performance, sector dynamics, and credit considerations.
* Prepare independent reports, transaction summaries, internal notes, financial analysis, and due diligence materials to support decision-making.
* Assist in reviewing the existing loan portfolio and client plans to identify new lending, refinancing, restructuring, or cross-sell opportunities.
* Support negotiations with borrowers and, where relevant, other lenders during initial discussions and definitive documentation stages.
* Coordinate with legal, credit, risk, product, coverage, and execution teams to ensure transactions are robust, compliant, and aligned with FAB criteria.
* Provide accurate and timely inputs for internal reporting, pipeline tracking, portfolio updates, and management information.
* Support strategic initiatives within Global Corporate Finance and wider coverage teams where required.
* Identify cross-selling opportunities for Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Agency, Securities Services, Global Markets, and Transaction Banking mandates.
* Maintain strong internal relationships with coverage partners to deepen client engagement and maximize revenue opportunities.
* Ensure financing opportunities remain aligned with FAB’s risk appetite, strategic objectives, credit standards, and internal governance requirements.
* Support deal execution timelines by following up on approvals, documentation, internal reviews, and stakeholder actions.
* Contribute to department and coverage team budgets by supporting revenue-generating transaction ideas and client solutions.
Ideal Profile
* Experience in corporate finance, structured finance, wholesale banking, lending origination, credit structuring, or transaction execution.
* Strong understanding of vanilla lending, structured lending, leveraged and acquisition finance, project finance, asset-backed finance, and real estate finance.
* Ability to evaluate borrower performance, transaction structures, business fundamentals, sector risks, and repayment capacity.
* Strong financial modelling skills with experience preparing financing models, sensitivity analysis, downside cases, and transaction return analysis.
* Good understanding of credit risk, banking risk parameters, internal approval processes, and transaction documentation.
* Experience supporting due diligence, internal reporting, deal analysis, credit discussions, and stakeholder coordination.
* Ability to work closely with relationship managers, credit teams, product partners, legal teams, and senior finance professionals.
* Strong analytical thinking with the ability to prepare clear reports, recommendations, and transaction materials.
* Commercial awareness with the ability to identify lending opportunities and cross-sell potential across capital markets and banking products.
* Strong communication skills with the confidence to support borrower discussions, internal presentations, and negotiation processes.
* Ability to manage multiple transactions, deadlines, and internal requirements in a fast-paced banking environment.
* Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
