Role Context
The Relationship Manager - Business Banking will manage and expand high-value business client relationships by understanding customer requirements, identifying financial needs, and positioning suitable FAB products and services. This role combines New To Bank acquisition, liability book growth, pricing coordination, credit preparation, KYC management, risk monitoring, FX and trade revenue tracking, and customer service follow-up. The position requires strong commercial judgement, relationship-building ability, credit awareness, and confidence in working with internal stakeholders, product teams, Global Markets, GTB partners, compliance, risk, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Acquire New To Bank high-value clients and grow business banking relationships within the assigned segment.
* Enhance existing high-value relationships to increase the bank’s liability book, customer activity, and revenue contribution.
* Build strong client engagement by understanding customer needs, service expectations, business priorities, and financial requirements.
* Increase wallet share through cross-selling and upselling relevant FAB products and services.
* Source business from prospects and follow up on sales leads within designated market segments.
* Plan timely client visits and introduce GTB and Global Markets partners where relevant.
* Identify and forward sales leads to other areas of the bank for cross-selling and relationship expansion.
* Coordinate with product managers and specialists to promote suitable banking products and improve client solutions.
* Negotiate with internal stakeholders and structure pricing for Global Markets and cash management products based on customer needs.
* Provide customers with accurate and timely information on products, services, features, and business benefits.
* Keep customers and prospects updated on new products, service enhancements, and banking solutions.
* Improve response times and turnaround times for customer requests and business application processing.
* Establish a customer-focused approach that strengthens service quality and creates a competitive advantage.
* Prepare credit applications, analyze financial statements, and ensure submissions are ready for approval.
* Assess financial and business risks related to lending by reviewing industry position, strategic direction, management quality, and financial profile where required.
* Perform creditworthiness analysis and recommend appropriate credit limits.
* Ensure credit applications for new clients and renewals are prepared correctly in line with bank policies and regulatory frameworks.
* Proactively manage assigned portfolio risk by ensuring timely account renewals within applicable standards.
* Recognize early warning signals of unsatisfactory account conduct and follow up on past due loans where applicable.
* Maintain timely KYC updates and ensure compliance with KYC, AML, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
* Work closely with internal departments to manage compliance risk, operational risk, and credit risk exposure.
* Monitor potential money laundering activities and coordinate remedial actions with management.
* Cooperate with internal audit and risk management teams to address gaps and respond to audit observations within agreed timelines.
* Ensure effective utilization of approved limits to maximize profitability.
* Monitor MIS reports for FX and trade revenues, including EDW dashboard data where applicable.
* Continuously seek opportunities to improve revenue margins from customers.
* Contact customer service groups and processing units to ensure satisfactory service standards are maintained.
* Follow bank policies strictly to avoid fraud exposure, operational risk, compliance breaches, or service failures.
Ideal Profile
* University degree is required.
* Postgraduate qualification in Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
* Strong experience in business banking, SME banking, relationship management, liability growth, or high-value client acquisition.
* Proven ability to drive customer and financial objectives through disciplined relationship management and portfolio growth.
* Good knowledge of general banking, business banking, SME propositions, liability products, cash management, FX, trade, and competitive market offerings.
* Strong ability to identify and meet customer needs through a broad range of banking products and services.
* Good understanding of credit applications, financial statement analysis, creditworthiness assessment, limit structuring, and portfolio risk monitoring.
* Familiarity with KYC, AML, operational risk, compliance, audit requirements, and banking regulatory expectations.
* Strong business assessment skills, particularly for complex business structures and facilities with an international dimension.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, influence, negotiate, and build trust with customers and colleagues.
