Role Context
The Relationship Officer - Corporate Banking will support the management and growth of large corporate account portfolios within the Corporate Banking segment. This position combines client relationship support, transaction coordination, documentation review, payment processing, account opening follow-up, KYC monitoring, pipeline updates, MIS preparation, and credit administration. The role requires a highly engaged professional who can work under tight deadlines, support local and international client outreach, and help ensure approvals, documentation, and internal processes move efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Support relationship managers in managing assigned corporate banking portfolios and strengthening client relationships.
* Assist in originating new business opportunities with target corporate clients across FAB banking products and services.
* Participate in financial analysis of clients, industries, and markets to identify potential opportunities, risks, and relationship growth areas.
* Provide operational and administrative support for corporate client accounts to ensure banking products and services are delivered accurately and on time.
* Coordinate client transactions from initiation to completion, including documentation review, approval follow-up, internal coordination, and execution tracking.
* Assist with client calls, payment processing, account openings, documentation follow-up, pipeline updates, and other daily portfolio activities.
* Maintain client relationships within acceptable service, credit, and governance standards set by bank management.
* Support the team in achieving financial performance targets and portfolio revenue objectives.
* Ensure all client files, documents, approvals, and portfolio records are properly maintained and updated.
* Follow up on credit reviews to ensure submissions are completed on time and agreed conditions are met.
* Help maintain satisfactory audit outcomes by ensuring portfolio activities follow approved procedures and internal control requirements.
* Manage and follow up KYC, AML, and compliance requirements for existing clients and New To Bank relationships.
* Support internal processes for existing portfolio clients and NTBs in line with bank policies and procedures.
* Assist in preparing timely and accurate statements, MIS, portfolio updates, and reports required by the unit.
* Coordinate with internal departments to resolve documentation gaps, processing issues, approval delays, and client service matters.
* Support relationship managers during urgent deadlines, time-sensitive submissions, and cross-border client requirements.
* Follow process KPIs, operational risk management requirements, business continuity procedures, internal audit standards, and standard operating procedures.
* Attend relevant on-the-job and off-the-job training programs to strengthen corporate banking, credit, product, and compliance knowledge.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate banking coverage, relationship support, client servicing, credit administration, or portfolio coordination.
* Good knowledge of the banking sector, FAB products, corporate banking services, and business strategies.
* Experience supporting large account portfolios, client documentation, payment processing, account openings, credit reviews, and transaction follow-up.
* Strong understanding of KYC, AML, operational risk, business continuity, internal audit, and corporate banking process requirements.
* Ability to analyse financial statements, research client and market information, and support financial modelling activities.
* Good credit analysis skills with awareness of portfolio credit quality and agreed credit conditions.
* FOREX knowledge and understanding of corporate banking transaction requirements is an advantage.
* Proficiency in banking software systems and common office tools.
* Strong computer skills with the ability to prepare reports, maintain trackers, and work with business data.
* Excellent communication skills for dealing with relationship managers, clients, internal departments, and senior stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure, manage changing priorities, and support tight deadline submissions.
* Strong coordination mindset with the ability to follow up across teams and ensure pending matters are closed properly.
