Role Context
This position is responsible for growing the business banking portfolio by acquiring high-value clients, maximizing wallet share, and ensuring excellent customer service standards. The selected professional will manage client relationships, structure credit facilities, oversee risk management, and work closely with internal stakeholders to drive profitability and compliance across the assigned portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
* Acquire new-to-bank high-value clients and strengthen existing relationships to increase liabilities and overall portfolio revenue
* Build strong client engagement to understand customer banking needs and improve service delivery
* Increase wallet share by cross-selling and upselling banking products and services across the assigned segment
* Drive increased sales volumes and market share within the target business banking portfolio
* Ensure fast response times and strong turnaround for customer requests and business applications
* Negotiate with internal stakeholders and structure pricing for Global Markets and Cash Management products based on customer needs
* Establish a strong customer-focused banking approach to maintain competitive market positioning
* Maintain working relationships with customers by identifying financial needs and deploying suitable banking solutions
* Provide accurate and timely information to customers regarding products, benefits, and banking opportunities
* Source new business actively from prospects and follow up on qualified sales leads within designated market segments
* Conduct timely client visits and introduce GTB and GM partners to support broader banking solutions
* Identify and forward cross-selling opportunities to other divisions within the bank
* Coordinate with product managers and specialists to promote relevant bank products effectively
Risk Management
* Ensure timely updating of KYC documentation and compliance records
* Work closely with internal departments to manage compliance, operational, and credit risks
* Prepare credit applications, analyze financial statements, and support approval processes
* Ensure new and renewal credit applications are prepared accurately in line with bank policies and regulatory frameworks
* Identify early warning signs of unsatisfactory account conduct and follow up on overdue obligations
* Assess business and financial risks of lending by reviewing company strategy, industry position, and financial performance
* Recommend appropriate credit limits based on creditworthiness analysis
* Proactively manage assigned portfolio risk and ensure timely renewal of client accounts
* Ensure compliance with business banking standards, pricing structures, and all regulatory requirements
* Cooperate with audit and risk management teams to address gaps and resolve audit findings
* Monitor money laundering activities and coordinate remedial actions where necessary
Profitability and Service Excellence
* Ensure effective utilization of approved limits to maximize profitability
* Monitor FX and Trade revenue reports through MIS dashboards and performance tools
* Continuously improve revenue margins across the customer portfolio
* Maintain high customer service standards across all interactions and operational processes
* Coordinate with service groups and processing units to ensure service quality standards are consistently met
* Ensure strict adherence to bank policies to prevent fraud and reduce operational risks
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Banking, Economics, or related discipline
* Postgraduate qualification in Business Management or Business Administration is an advantage
* Strong experience in business banking, SME banking, or relationship management roles
* Proven success in driving high-performance culture and achieving customer and financial objectives
* Strong knowledge of general banking, business banking, and SME product propositions
* Strong understanding of credit analysis, risk assessment, and financial statement review
* Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills
* Strong leadership, team development, and performance management capability
* Strong business assessment skills, especially for complex lending structures and international clients
