Role Context
The Trade Finance Officer - Middle Office will support the execution and processing of trade finance transactions originated across Wholesale Banking, including Corporate and Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Financial Institutions, Investment Banking, Islamic Banking, and Consumer Banking channels. The role ensures that all assigned trade products are processed in a controlled, cost-efficient, and error-free manner.
This position is important for maintaining transaction quality, customer service standards, regulatory compliance, and risk management across trade operations. The successful candidate will work with internal business units, operations teams, relationship managers, compliance stakeholders, and control functions to ensure trade finance products are handled accurately and within required turnaround times.
Key Responsibilities
* Process funded and unfunded trade finance products through the Trade Middle Office in line with bank procedures.
* Ensure trade transactions are handled accurately, efficiently, and within agreed service timelines.
* Support execution of trade finance transactions originated by Wholesale Banking, Islamic Banking, Financial Institutions, and Consumer Banking teams.
* Review transaction instructions and supporting documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal requirements.
* Maintain strong control over transaction processing to reduce errors, delays, operational losses, and customer service issues.
* Ensure all trade finance activities follow bank policies, regulator requirements, compliance standards, and risk management expectations.
* Coordinate with relationship managers, business teams, operations, compliance, and other internal stakeholders to resolve transaction-related issues.
* Support processing of trade products while maintaining quality, cost efficiency, and service consistency.
* Escalate discrepancies, missing documentation, approval gaps, or risk concerns through the appropriate channels.
* Track assigned transactions and follow up with relevant teams to ensure timely completion.
* Maintain accurate records of processed transactions, client instructions, approvals, and operational actions.
* Contribute to smooth middle office operations by supporting daily trade finance workflow, queue management, and exception handling.
* Assist in improving process efficiency, documentation quality, and operational controls across trade finance activities.
* Support internal checks, audit requirements, compliance reviews, and management reporting where required.
* Maintain confidentiality of client, transaction, and bank information at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
* Relevant experience in trade finance operations, trade middle office, import-export banking, corporate banking operations, or transaction banking.
* Good understanding of funded and unfunded trade finance products.
* Practical knowledge of trade documentation, transaction processing, operational controls, and compliance requirements.
* Experience supporting corporate, commercial, financial institution, Islamic banking, or consumer banking trade transactions will be valuable.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to process high-value transactions accurately.
* Good understanding of banking risk controls, regulatory standards, and internal policy requirements.
* Ability to coordinate with relationship managers, operations teams, compliance teams, and business stakeholders.
* Strong communication skills with a service-focused and solution-oriented approach.
* Able to manage daily transaction volumes, deadlines, exceptions, and operational priorities in a controlled environment.
