Role Context
The Trade Finance Specialist - Operations will support FAB Centralised Operation, part of the Business Support Group responsible for transaction processing and operational services across First Abu Dhabi Bank, its subsidiaries, and affiliates. The role contributes to high-volume financial transaction handling while ensuring that controls, risk checks, and operational standards protect the bank and its customers from unanticipated risk.
This position sits within the Trade Finance department, which services trade transactions mainly originated by Wholesale Banking, including Corporate and Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Financial Institutions, Investment Banking, Islamic Banking, and Consumer Banking. The successful candidate will support accurate transaction execution, quality service delivery, timely processing, and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Process trade finance transactions in line with approved procedures, operational standards, and service expectations.
* Support trade activities originated by Wholesale Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Financial Institutions, Investment Banking, Islamic Banking, and Consumer Banking.
* Ensure trade transactions are handled accurately, efficiently, and within required turnaround times.
* Maintain strong operational control while processing high volumes of financial transactions.
* Review transaction instructions and supporting documents for completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal requirements.
* Coordinate with business units, relationship teams, operations teams, compliance, and control functions to resolve transaction-related issues.
* Escalate discrepancies, unusual transaction patterns, missing documents, or risk concerns through appropriate channels.
* Support the bank’s risk oversight framework by ensuring no avoidable operational risk is introduced during transaction handling.
* Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure timely updates in relevant systems.
* Follow departmental procedures to support quality, cost efficiency, and service consistency.
* Assist in monitoring transaction flow and clearing pending items within agreed service standards.
* Contribute to smooth communication between trade finance operations and internal stakeholders.
* Support process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, control strength, and customer service quality.
* Maintain confidentiality of customer, transaction, and bank information at all times.
* Ensure work is completed in line with FAB policies, regulator expectations, compliance standards, and operational governance requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
* Relevant experience in trade finance operations, centralized banking operations, transaction banking, import-export banking, or trade middle office support.
* Good understanding of trade finance transaction flows and operational processing requirements.
* Familiarity with funded and unfunded trade products will be an advantage.
* Knowledge of Wholesale Banking, Islamic Banking, Financial Institutions, or Consumer Banking trade support processes is valuable.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to process transaction documentation accurately.
* Good understanding of operational risk, compliance standards, service timelines, and banking controls.
* Ability to coordinate with business teams, operations units, compliance stakeholders, and relationship managers.
* Strong communication skills with a practical and service-focused approach.
* Able to work in a high-volume banking operations environment while maintaining accuracy and control.
