- **Job Summary**
The Laboratory Technician/Analyst will be responsible for collecting samples, conducting routine and non-routine analyses, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory results. Working under the guidance of the Senior Lab Technician, the role involves timely reporting of test results and participation in quality assurance activities. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities in emergency preparedness as an auxiliary firefighter or first-aider.
- **Key Responsibilities**
- Collect samples safely and representatively according to scheduled or customer-specific requests.
- Perform analyses using established laboratory Working Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to determine product quality or evaluate plant and equipment performance.
- Report test results promptly and accurately through LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) to enable appropriate customer actions.
- Take responsibility for designated laboratory instruments and conduct timely calibrations to ensure data integrity.
- Maintain proper housekeeping standards to ensure a safe and clean laboratory environment.
- Participate in emergency response activities as an auxiliary firefighter.
- Understand and implement the requirements of the Laboratory Quality Management System as per ISO 17025:2017 accreditation standards.
- Acquire knowledge of the manufacturing processes for urea, ammonia, and melamine products to enhance analytical understanding.
- **Desired Candidate Profile**
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Sciences.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in the chemical process industry, preferably in the fertilizer or petrochemical sector.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with laboratory techniques, including:
- Spectrophotometry, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry, Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES)
- Gas Chromatography (GC), Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
- Particle sizing using camera and laser techniques
- High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ion Chromatography (IC)
- Near Infrared Spectrometry (NIR), X-ray Wavelength Dispersive Spectrometry (XRF)
- Total Carbon/Total Nitrogen Spectrometry (TC/TN), pH-metry, Conductivity, Refractometry, Turbidimetry, Viscosimetry, Gravimetry, and Electrochemistry
- Experience in analyzing water, urea, ammonia, melamine, urea formaldehyde concentrate, oil samples, etc.
- Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in preparing technical reports.
- Computer literacy, including the ability to operate standard software applications.
