Role Context
The Airport Integration Lead - Rail will manage the technical and operational connection between a major railway project and airport infrastructure. The role focuses on aligning rail stations, terminal access, passenger movement, baggage systems, security requirements, airport operations, and multimodal transport interfaces into one coordinated delivery framework. By defining integration requirements, resolving interface risks, and coordinating with airport authorities, operators, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams, the position helps ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient passenger journey between railway and airport environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead airport integration activities across the full project lifecycle, including feasibility, concept design, detailed design, Design and Construct tender support, delivery, testing, commissioning, and handover.
* Define and implement the airport integration strategy to align rail systems, terminal infrastructure, airport operations, passenger movement, security requirements, and stakeholder expectations.
* Coordinate interfaces between railway stations and airport terminals, including access routes, circulation paths, passenger processing areas, transfer points, and operational connectivity.
* Manage integration with airport systems such as terminal operations, passenger processing systems, Baggage Handling Systems, access control, security processes, and information systems.
* Develop, review, and maintain interface requirements and Interface Control Documents between rail infrastructure, airport assets, operational stakeholders, and specialist systems.
* Coordinate closely with airport authorities, operators, contractors, consultants, regulatory stakeholders, and project teams to ensure requirements are aligned and practical.
* Support passenger and baggage planning strategies, including checked passenger flows, non-checked passenger segregation, baggage transfer processes, and efficient terminal connectivity.
* Support preparation of Design and Construct tender documentation, including technical specifications, integration requirements, interface definitions, performance criteria, and operational assumptions.
* Identify risks linked to airport interfaces, passenger movement, baggage systems, operational constraints, security requirements, and systems integration.
* Develop practical mitigation measures for interface conflicts, design gaps, delivery constraints, operational risks, and stakeholder coordination challenges.
* Coordinate airport integration activities during testing and commissioning, including system interface checks, operational trials, readiness reviews, and handover planning.
* Ensure project outputs comply with technical specifications, aviation standards, railway requirements, safety obligations, and international best practices.
* Provide technical leadership to the Project Manager and multidisciplinary teams on airport integration, rail interface coordination, passenger planning, and baggage system alignment.
* Facilitate technical workshops, stakeholder coordination meetings, design reviews, integration sessions, and risk discussions.
* Monitor interface progress and support timely resolution of open actions affecting airport connectivity, railway operations, terminal functions, or commissioning readiness.
* Maintain clear integration records, action logs, risk items, interface decisions, stakeholder comments, and technical coordination outputs.
* Support smooth transition from design into delivery by ensuring interface responsibilities, access requirements, operational assumptions, and system dependencies are clearly understood.
Ideal Profile
* Engineering degree in Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or an equivalent discipline from a recognized university.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in rail, airport, integrated transport, or large-scale infrastructure projects in Dubai, the GCC, or international markets.
* Strong experience managing airport integration and complex interfaces between railway systems, airport terminals, passenger facilities, and operational environments.
* Proven ability to manage both technical and management scope on large multidisciplinary infrastructure, rail, airport, or transport projects.
* Good understanding of passenger flow, terminal operations, multimodal connectivity, rail station planning, airport operations, and high-capacity transport environments.
* Experience coordinating with airport authorities, airport operators, regulators, project stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and specialist system providers.
* Familiarity with international standards and best practices in airport systems, rail integration, passenger processing, safety, and operational readiness.
* Relevant expertise in Baggage Handling Systems, baggage transfer planning, airport terminal integration, and rail-connected passenger journeys will be an advantage.
* Professional certification or membership with a recognized engineering, transport, aviation, or project management institute will be an advantage.
* Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage sensitive stakeholder interfaces.
* Analytical and practical problem-solving ability for identifying risks, resolving interface conflicts, and developing workable integration solutions.
* Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments while supporting delivery across design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning stages.
