Role Context
The Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil Works will support the Resident Engineer in managing daily field engineering, site supervision, inspection coordination, technical review, progress monitoring, and quality control for key civil infrastructure works. The position helps ensure that construction activities are delivered safely, correctly, and in line with approved drawings, specifications, Abu Dhabi authority requirements, contractual standards, and project delivery expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Resident Engineer with daily field engineering, construction supervision, site coordination, and monitoring of work in progress.
* Review drawings, specifications, and design revisions to confirm that site execution follows the latest approved project information.
* Coordinate with design disciplines to resolve technical issues, clarify requirements, and support compliant construction delivery.
* Carry out constructability reviews and identify practical site issues that may affect quality, safety, sequence, or progress.
* Provide first-level quality assurance by reviewing contractor submittals, technical documentation, materials, and work execution against project requirements.
* Verify that contractor works comply with approved plans, specifications, standards, method statements, and authority regulations.
* Ensure required tests, inspections, and quality checks are completed, witnessed, documented, and followed through to closure.
* Supervise inspection staff when required and provide guidance on site observations, inspection records, and quality control actions.
* Track project progress, schedule performance, site constraints, and key workfront activities, then prepare updates for the Resident Engineer.
* Monitor material procurement, deliveries, supplier data, technical catalogues, and related project records to support construction continuity.
* Maintain daily logs, field records, discipline turnover documents, inspection records, and technical documentation.
* Coordinate with contractors, consultants, stakeholders, and project team members to resolve site coordination issues.
* Support supervision of civil infrastructure works including roads, utilities, pedestrian bridges, cyclist bridges, parking areas, ramps, and related structural elements.
* Enforce HSE requirements, hazard controls, safe work practices, and site safety procedures across assigned work areas.
* Assist with handover preparation by maintaining accurate records, inspection documentation, close-out information, and discipline turnover files.
* Support quality assurance specifications, statistical quality control practices, and project compliance requirements throughout site delivery.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering with equivalency certificate where applicable.
* More than 8 years of experience in construction supervision and delivery of roads, utilities, and general infrastructure works.
* ADM or DMT practice license or approval is required.
* Familiarity with Abu Dhabi authority regulations, approvals process, project requirements, and infrastructure delivery procedures.
* Experience supervising structural works such as pedestrian bridges or cyclist bridges is an advantage.
* Strong understanding of civil construction processes, site supervision methods, inspection workflows, contractor coordination, and quality control.
* Ability to review drawings, specifications, contractor submittals, technical records, inspection documents, and progress information.
* Good knowledge of quality assurance specifications and statistical quality control.
* PMP certification is an advantage.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar engineering and design software tools is preferred.
* Excellent site coordination, communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
* Safety-focused approach with the ability to support HSE compliance, hazard control, and disciplined construction practices.
* Organized and practical working style with the ability to manage site records, coordinate multiple workfronts, and support timely project delivery.
