Role Context
The Assistant Resident Engineer - Cycle Track will supervise civil works linked to an at-grade cycle track project, ensuring construction activities are executed according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality procedures, safety requirements, and local authority standards. The role supports the Resident Engineer by monitoring site progress, reviewing contractor submissions, coordinating technical issues, verifying quantities, preparing reports, and helping deliver accessible, safe, and sustainable public mobility infrastructure in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise daily civil works for cycle track construction, roadworks, pavements, kerbs, drainage, utilities interfaces, and associated infrastructure.
* Monitor contractor activities to confirm that works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project quality requirements.
* Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi Municipality, DMT requirements, local authority procedures, and applicable infrastructure standards.
* Review and provide technical input on material submittals, shop drawings, method statements, inspection requests, and contractor documentation.
* Coordinate with contractors, designers, consultants, inspectors, stakeholders, and project team members to maintain smooth site execution.
* Conduct site inspections and confirm that workmanship, materials, levels, alignments, dimensions, and construction sequencing meet project requirements.
* Prepare progress reports, quality reports, compliance updates, site observations, and technical documentation for project review.
* Verify completed quantities and assist with evaluation of variations, contractor submissions, measurement records, and supporting documentation.
* Track construction progress against the project schedule and identify delays, quality concerns, coordination issues, or resource constraints.
* Support resolution of technical and site coordination issues related to cycle tracks, roads, drainage, utilities, public realm interfaces, and access requirements.
* Ensure health, safety, and environmental requirements are properly implemented across site activities.
* Monitor site conditions and report unsafe practices, environmental concerns, or non-compliant works through appropriate project channels.
* Support sustainable design and construction practices where applicable, including public realm integration, durable materials, and efficient site coordination.
* Maintain accurate site records, inspection notes, progress data, correspondence, and handover-related documentation.
* Assist the Resident Engineer in maintaining client confidence through clear reporting, disciplined supervision, and practical construction oversight.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* 8-10 years of experience in civil works supervision, preferably within the UAE.
* Strong knowledge of roadworks, cycle track construction, drainage systems, pavements, kerbs, utilities coordination, and public realm infrastructure.
* Familiarity with Abu Dhabi standards, Abu Dhabi Municipality requirements, DMT procedures, and local authority approval processes.
* Experience in cycle track, roads, pedestrian mobility, public realm, or urban infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi is preferred.
* Ability to review drawings, specifications, material submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and contractor submissions.
* Good understanding of construction quality control, site inspection workflows, quantity verification, progress monitoring, and variation support.
* Knowledge of sustainable design practices and their application in infrastructure or public realm projects is an advantage.
* Professional certification such as PMP or equivalent is an advantage.
* Good communication, coordination, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
* Practical site leadership approach with the ability to work with contractors, designers, inspectors, and authority representatives.
