Assistant Resident Engineer Dubai

Role Summary
Assistant Resident Engineer in Dubai will support AECOM’s civil infrastructure supervision team by managing daily site inspection activities, reviewing contractor submissions, monitoring construction progress, and ensuring project works comply with approved drawings, specifications, HSE standards, and authority requirements. This role is ideal for an experienced civil engineering professional with strong construction supervision, freight facility, infrastructure, site coordination, and contractor management experience in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the site supervision team for the Freight Facilities Project and support smooth execution of daily construction activities.
* Review Inspectors’ Daily Reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, technical clarity, and compliance with project standards.
* Prepare the Engineer’s Daily Diary summarizing site activities, construction progress, observations, issues, and key project updates.
* Provide daily oversight of inspectors’ activities, including task allocation, field performance monitoring, and technical guidance.
* Review contractor inspection requests, surveying requests, testing requests, and related reports for compliance with project specifications.
* Review and approve contractor shop drawings, materials, and construction methods as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
* Monitor the contractor’s survey team and verify the accuracy of setting-out works and field measurements.
* Prepare meeting minutes, technical correspondence, reports, and project documentation as required by the Resident Engineer.
* Coordinate with contractor supervisory staff on work sequence, methodology, schedule compliance, and site execution priorities.
* Monitor construction progress against the approved baseline program and report delays, risks, and required corrective actions.
* Conduct continuous field inspections of ongoing works and provide technical consultation to the Resident Engineer and contractor teams.
* Prepare written and verbal reports for the Resident Engineer on technical, contractual, procedural, and site-related matters.
* Review and verify as-built drawings in coordination with inspectors, surveyors, and relevant discipline teams.
* Ensure all construction activities are executed according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
* Identify non-conformances, initiate corrective actions, and follow up with contractors until issues are properly resolved.
* Support the Resident Engineer in reviewing technical submittals, progress reports, inspection records, and project documentation.
* Maintain effective coordination between the supervision team and contractor to resolve site issues efficiently.
* Liaise and coordinate with relevant authorities for inspections, permits, approvals, and project-related technical requirements.

Candidate Requirements

* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
* Strong experience in civil infrastructure construction supervision, site inspection management, and contractor coordination.
* Previous experience on freight facilities, transportation infrastructure, industrial infrastructure, logistics facilities, or major civil works projects is preferred.
* Good knowledge of UAE construction practices, site supervision procedures, quality control, HSE standards, and authority coordination.
* Ability to review shop drawings, materials, method statements, inspection requests, testing reports, survey records, and as-built drawings.
* Strong understanding of project specifications, approved drawings, baseline programs, construction sequencing, and field inspection processes.
* Experience coordinating with contractors, inspectors, surveyors, Resident Engineers, consultants, and authority representatives.
* Ability to identify non-conformances, track corrective actions, and support timely resolution of site issues.
* Strong reporting skills with the ability to prepare daily diaries, meeting minutes, technical correspondence, and progress updates.
* Excellent communication, coordination, problem-solving, documentation, and site leadership skills.
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary project environment and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and delivery performance.
