Role Summary
Assistant Resident Engineer in Dubai will support AECOM’s infrastructure supervision team by managing inspectors’ daily activities, reviewing contractor submissions, monitoring construction progress, coordinating with Dubai authorities, and ensuring site works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, HSE standards, and contract requirements. This role is ideal for a civil engineering professional with strong site supervision experience, contractor coordination skills, inspection control knowledge, and familiarity with RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Etisalat, DU, and Civil Defense processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Review Inspectors’ Daily Reports to confirm accuracy, completeness, technical clarity, and compliance with project standards.
* Prepare the Engineer’s Daily Diary summarizing daily construction activities, site progress, observations, issues, and key updates.
* Provide general supervision of inspectors’ daily activities, including task assignments, site performance follow-up, and technical guidance.
* Review contractor inspection requests, surveying requests, testing requests, and related reports for compliance with project specifications.
* Review and approve contractor shop drawings, materials, and construction methods as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
* Monitor and verify the contractor’s survey team performance and ensure accuracy of setting-out works.
* Prepare meeting minutes, technical correspondence, site reports, and project documentation as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
* Coordinate with contractor supervisory staff regarding work sequence, construction methodology, schedule compliance, and site priorities.
* Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to the contractor’s approved baseline program.
* Conduct continuous field inspections of work in progress and provide technical support to the Resident Engineer and contractor teams.
* Prepare written and verbal reports for the Resident Engineer on technical, contractual, procedural, and site-related matters.
* Review and verify as-built drawings in coordination with inspectors, surveyors, and relevant project teams.
* Ensure all site activities are carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, and HSE standards.
* Identify non-conformances, initiate corrective actions, and follow up with the contractor until proper resolution is achieved.
* Support the Resident Engineer in reviewing technical submittals, progress reports, inspection records, and project documentation.
* Maintain effective coordination between the supervision team and contractor to resolve site issues efficiently.
* Liaise and coordinate with relevant Dubai authorities, including RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Etisalat, DU, and Civil Defense, for inspections, permits, approvals, and NOCs.
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
* Strong experience in civil infrastructure construction supervision, site inspection coordination, and contractor monitoring.
* Previous experience supporting Resident Engineers on roads, utilities, transport, infrastructure, or major civil works projects is preferred.
* Good knowledge of Dubai authority procedures, including RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Etisalat, DU, and Civil Defense coordination.
* Ability to review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection requests, testing reports, survey records, and as-built drawings.
* Strong understanding of approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, baseline programs, quality control, and HSE standards.
* Experience coordinating with contractors, inspectors, surveyors, Resident Engineers, consultants, clients, and authority representatives.
* Ability to identify site non-conformances, track corrective actions, and support timely resolution of construction issues.
* Strong reporting skills with the ability to prepare daily diaries, meeting minutes, technical correspondence, site updates, and progress reports.
* Practical knowledge of construction sequencing, field inspections, survey verification, project documentation, and site coordination.
* Excellent communication, documentation, coordination, problem-solving, and technical supervision skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and delivery performance.
