Role
This position supports AECOM\'s Transportation business line within its Middle East and Africa operations. The successful candidate will contribute to the analysis and detailed design of complex transportation structures while working with multidisciplinary engineers, designers and digital delivery specialists. Designs must comply with applicable standards such as AASHTO LRFD, Eurocodes and AREMA. Site inspections may be assigned when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development and evaluation of structural design concepts.
* Perform detailed design of bridges, underpasses, railway structures, stations and related infrastructure.
* Produce structural calculations, design sketches and supporting engineering information.
* Coordinate with CAD and BIM technicians to ensure accurate drawing production.
* Review drawings and BIM models for consistency with approved engineering designs.
* Plan and conduct structural site inspections when required.
* Prepare technical reports, engineering documents and inspection findings.
* Carry out design risk assessments and provide information for Health and Safety files.
* Confirm that completed work complies with client requirements, applicable codes and project standards.
* Develop design spreadsheets to improve the accuracy and efficiency of engineering calculations.
* Share technical knowledge and practical guidance with junior engineers.
* Take ownership of assigned tasks and communicate progress with project stakeholders.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree in Bridge Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* Master\'s degree in a relevant engineering subject is preferred.
* Chartered Engineer status or a Professional Engineer licence is advantageous.
* Four to six years of relevant structural design experience.
* Hands-on experience designing bridges, underpasses, railway structures, stations or comparable infrastructure assets.
* Previous involvement in projects within the UAE or wider Middle East is preferred.
* Experience inspecting and assessing bridges or other transportation structures is advantageous.
* Organized and proactive approach with the ability to manage assigned responsibilities independently.
* Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Willingness to contribute ideas, support colleagues and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
