Role Context
Working closely with the Resident Engineer, the Civil Engineer will help maintain technical, contractual, and operational control across fast-moving infrastructure
works. The position requires confident site leadership, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to coordinate contractors and inspectors while protecting quality, safety, and schedule objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Resident Engineer with design reviews and construction supervision for structural and infrastructure works.
* Deputize for the Resident Engineer when assigned and maintain continuity in project oversight.
* Verify that construction and operations and maintenance activities comply with contract documents.
* Participate in contract administration and provide technical input on project matters.
* Review contractor submissions and issue clear technical comments within the required timeframe.
* Provide on-site engineering direction and prepare site instructions when necessary.
* Supervise the site inspection team and coordinate coverage of planned construction activities.
* Check and measure completed work to verify quantities, accuracy, and specification compliance.
* Monitor road, utility, bridge, and structural activities against approved drawings and method statements.
* Oversee material and workmanship quality and ensure that identified defects are corrected.
* Promote compliance with approved health and safety procedures across the site.
* Record construction progress against the approved program and highlight emerging variances.
* Investigate technical or sequencing issues that could affect project milestones.
* Prepare detailed reports presenting progress, quality findings, constraints, and required actions.
* Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and relevant stakeholders to resolve site matters.
* Review as-built drawings and confirm that project records are accurate and complete.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a bachelor\'s degree in civil engineering and possess at least ten years of experience delivering infrastructure projects in the United Arab Emirates. This background should include roads, utility networks, bridges, and associated structural works.
Previous experience in Dubai is preferred due to the role\'s involvement with local construction practices and project requirements. Exposure to prestigious fast-track developments will also be advantageous.
The successful candidate should be comfortable using relevant engineering and office software. Strong written and spoken communication skills are necessary, together with the ability to present technical information logically to management, contractors, and site personnel.
