Role Context
The Civil Inspector will provide continuous site surveillance across assigned infrastructure construction activities, helping ensure that completed work meets contractual, technical, and quality requirements before acceptance.
The role requires close observation of construction methods, testing procedures, materials, workmanship, and site conditions. By identifying non-conforming work early and maintaining accurate inspection records, the inspector will help reduce defects, prevent rework, and support safe delivery across multidisciplinary infrastructure packages.
The position may involve roads, bridges, highways, underground utilities, structural works, piping systems, concrete activities, and related construction interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect civil and structural construction activities to confirm compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
* Conduct or witness field tests covering soil compaction, moisture content, aggregate grading, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, and concrete coring.
* Verify lines, grades, levels, and survey information associated with construction activities.
* Inspect underground piping installation for bedding, alignment, grade, and system tightness.
* Monitor piling works to confirm correct location, installation, and bearing requirements.
* Review piping systems and support P and ID verification where applicable.
* Witness hydraulic and other pressure tests to verify system integrity and compliance.
* Inspect concrete works and confirm materials, placement, testing, and workmanship meet approved requirements.
* Monitor structural installation activities including bolt torque verification where required.
* Inspect electrical installation interfaces when assigned, including grounding and circuit integrity requirements.
* Review painting and insulation activities to confirm specified thickness, continuity, and coverage.
* Provide general inspection of contractor and subcontractor work to verify acceptable workmanship.
* Monitor equipment alignment and balancing activities where they interface with assigned construction scope.
* Record inspection observations and identify work that does not meet project requirements.
* Coordinate with engineers and construction teams to clarify technical issues and resolve site discrepancies.
* Participate in preparation of quality control reports, inspection documentation, and related procedures.
* Support development and implementation of job safety practices associated with site inspection activities.
* Contribute to safety reports and highlight unsafe conditions identified during surveillance.
* Witness or administer welder qualification testing where required by the assigned scope.
* Maintain accurate documentation of tests, inspections, corrective actions, and completed construction activities.
* Perform additional inspection duties appropriate to the project and assigned discipline.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a three-year diploma or degree in Civil Engineering.
A minimum of seven years of experience in construction supervision of infrastructure projects is required, preferably involving roads, bridges, highways, and utilities.
Candidates should also have at least three years of relevant experience within the UAE or a similar regional infrastructure environment.
The successful candidate must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, construction specifications, and technical documentation accurately.
Strong familiarity with construction processes, inspection procedures, field testing, quality requirements, and workmanship standards is essential.
