Role
The Civil Inspector - Infrastructure will support site supervision and inspection activities on major civil works in Riyadh. The role helps maintain construction quality by checking field execution, recording site observations, reviewing subcontractor reports, verifying quantities, and escalating issues to the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer. The position requires practical knowledge of civil construction methods, inspection routines, engineering drawings, documentation control, and the ability to identify non-compliant work before it affects project progress or final quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor site construction activities and perform inspections as directed by the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
* Coordinate with contractors on construction, installation, maintenance, testing, documentation, and related site activities.
* Check that civil works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, codes, standards, contract requirements, and client expectations.
* Review site operations to confirm subcontractors follow approved designs, construction procedures, quality requirements, and safety controls.
* Monitor subcontractor performance and report concerns related to workmanship, progress, safety, quality, or compliance.
* Assist in identifying, evaluating, and resolving field construction issues that may affect project schedule, quality, or delivery objectives.
* Verify field measurements, installed quantities, and civil work progress to support accurate reporting and payment documentation.
* Maintain records related to changes in contract work, site instructions, inspection findings, and corrective actions.
* Review subcontractor daily and weekly inspection reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
* Assist with preparation and compilation of Bills of Quantity and monthly payment documentation.
* Participate in design review meetings and coordinate with civil engineering teams to support smooth project delivery.
* Prepare inspection reports, site observation records, progress notes, and documentation of non-compliant or corrective work.
* Support resident engineering teams in maintaining quality, safety, and construction compliance throughout project execution.
* Inspect civil works related to infrastructure, heavy civil construction, transportation facilities, utilities, earthworks, concrete works, drainage, roads, and related site activities.
* Escalate technical concerns, recurring defects, missing approvals, unsafe practices, or quality issues to senior site engineers for action.
* Maintain clear communication with contractors, project teams, and engineering staff to support timely resolution of site issues.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* Saudi National candidate required.
* Minimum 3 years of civil engineering experience on heavy civil, infrastructure, transportation, rail, metro, or construction projects.
* Non-degree holders should have at least 9 years of relevant civil construction experience.
* Experience inspecting civil works, monitoring site progress, reviewing workmanship, and reporting findings to site engineers or project management teams.
* Knowledge of civil construction methods, quality control processes, site inspection procedures, and construction compliance requirements.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, method statements, construction documents, and inspection checklists.
* Familiarity with quality assurance requirements and documentation practices for infrastructure construction is preferred.
* Experience on rail, metro, transit, transportation infrastructure, or multidisciplinary construction projects is advantageous.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate inspection records and follow up on pending actions.
* Good problem-solving ability with a practical approach to field construction issues.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Ability to work effectively with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, inspectors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
