Role Context
The Civil Inspector will monitor technically demanding construction activities and verify that completed work meets approved quality, safety, and engineering requirements. Working alongside the Resident Engineer, contractors, surveyors, and utility stakeholders, the inspector
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect microtunnelling, pipe-jacking, shaft construction, and associated civil works.
* Confirm that site activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, project requirements, and applicable standards.
* Check excavation, shaft preparation, tunnelling, pipe installation, grouting, backfilling, and reinstatement activities.
* Inspect piling installation and verify pile locations, alignment, and bearing requirements.
* Witness testing, inspections, and quality-control activities specified in approved inspection and test plans.
* Monitor line and level controls, tunnelling alignment, pipe joints, lubrication systems, and operating parameters.
* Verify survey information and coordinate technical checks with the assigned surveying team.
* Detect defective or non-conforming work and document the required corrective and preventive actions.
* Follow up with contractors until identified quality issues are satisfactorily closed.
* Coordinate field activities with engineers, contractors, surveyors, and affected utility representatives.
* Prepare accurate daily inspection reports supported by relevant measurements and site observations.
* Maintain organized records of tests, approvals, inspections, construction progress, and corrective actions.
* Check adherence to project quality requirements, health and safety regulations, and environmental controls.
* Assist the Resident Engineer in monitoring progress and resolving issues affecting microtunnelling works.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should possess an associate degree or bachelor\'s degree in engineering, construction, or another relevant technical discipline. A high school diploma may be accepted when supported by substantial equivalent work experience and appropriate technical qualifications.
At least five years of relevant inspection or construction supervision experience is required. Applicants must have direct exposure to microtunnelling, pipe jacking, or comparable trenchless technology projects.
The position requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction specifications, inspection plans, and method statements. Recent experience supervising microtunnelling or pipe-jacking works in Dubai will be an advantage.
