Role Context
The Civil Inspector will provide continuous field oversight across roads, bridges, drainage, utilities, irrigation, and related infrastructure works. The role requires close attention to construction methods, materials, testing, workmanship, and site conditions so that defects and noncompliance are identified before they affect project quality or schedule.
The position also supports broader construction supervision by coordinating with contractors, engineers, and inspection teams, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to quality and safety reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect roads, bridges, drainage systems, utilities, irrigation works, and associated civil infrastructure activities.
* Verify construction against approved drawings, contract specifications, codes, standards, and project requirements.
* Conduct or witness soil compaction and moisture content testing.
* Review aggregate grading and other material testing results relevant to civil works.
* Witness concrete slump, air entrainment, compression, and concrete coring tests where required.
* Verify lines, grades, levels, and survey information associated with construction activities.
* Perform or support destructive and nondestructive testing on metals and other materials where included within the assigned scope.
* Monitor magnaflux, dye penetrant, radiographic, tension, compression, paint thickness, and resistivity testing when applicable.
* Inspect underground piping for bedding, alignment, grade, and tightness.
* Monitor piling installation to verify location, alignment, and bearing requirements.
* Review piping systems and support P and ID checks where required.
* Witness hydraulic and other pressure testing to confirm system integrity.
* Inspect electrical installation interfaces for grounding, circuit integrity, and compliance with statutory requirements.
* Monitor painting and insulation activities for required thickness, coverage, and continuity.
* Inspect contractor and subcontractor activities to confirm acceptable workmanship.
* Verify equipment alignment and balancing operations where included within the project scope.
* Identify construction defects, nonconforming work, and potential quality issues.
* Coordinate findings with engineers, contractors, and other site personnel so corrective actions can be implemented.
* Support preparation of quality control reports and related inspection procedures.
* Participate in development of job safety practices and site safety reporting.
* Identify unsafe conditions and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate project team.
* Maintain accurate inspection records, field notes, test results, and supporting documentation.
* Work independently when required while maintaining clear coordination with the wider supervision team.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a diploma or associate degree in Civil Engineering.
A minimum of five years of construction experience is required, with practical exposure to one or more areas including roads, bridges, drainage, utilities, or irrigation works.
The successful candidate should be able to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation accurately.
Strong analytical capability is important for evaluating test results, identifying site issues, and assessing whether completed work meets project requirements.
