Role Context
The Civil Inspector provides
day-to-day site supervision and quality verification across road and infrastructure works, ensuring construction activities are executed in accordance with contract documents, approved drawings, project specifications, and established safety requirements.
The position works closely with the Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, contractor teams, and client representatives. Accurate inspection, documentation, measurement verification, and early identification of site issues are critical to preventing non-conforming work, reducing rework, and maintaining progress toward successful project completion and handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and understand contract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, construction requirements, and approved health and safety measures.
* Monitor contractor compliance with project specifications, standards, approved drawings, and contractual requirements.
* Carry out site inspections and supervision as directed by the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
* Inspect roadworks, utilities, pipelines, earthworks, and associated infrastructure activities.
* Verify that completed and ongoing works conform to approved construction documents.
* Maintain records of contractor manpower, equipment, and daily site resources.
* Follow up with contractor teams regarding work progress, staffing, equipment availability, and site requirements.
* Monitor contractor health and safety practices during daily construction activities.
* Prepare daily reports for the RE or ARE covering site activities, work orders, material deliveries, inspections, and notable issues.
* Implement site instructions issued by the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer.
* Apply approved site quality-control procedures throughout inspection activities.
* Monitor contractor QA/QC processes and maintain supporting inspection records.
* Review construction activities for conformity with contractor-submitted plans and approved project requirements.
* Carry out site measurements and survey verification when requested.
* Check pipe alignments, invert levels, elevations, and other infrastructure measurements required by the RE or ARE.
* Coordinate with the client Project Manager during site inspections in the presence of the RE or ARE.
* Maintain clear communication with contractor representatives regarding inspection findings and outstanding corrective work.
* Identify construction defects, discrepancies, or non-compliant activities and report them promptly.
* Work with the RE or ARE to resolve site issues and agree appropriate corrective actions.
* Maintain records of material testing and completed construction activities.
* Verify delivered materials against project requirements where required.
* Support inspection of works before covering, backfilling, or proceeding to subsequent construction stages.
* Assist the ARE and RE with preparation of project correspondence relating to site conditions and contractual requirements.
* Monitor start-up, testing, commissioning, and handover activities for relevant infrastructure works.
* Maintain records of key construction milestones and completion status.
* Support preparation and closure of punch-list items during project completion.
* Ensure inspection documentation remains accurate, traceable, and available for project records.
* Report recurring quality issues or contractor performance concerns to project leadership.
* Maintain professional coordination with construction, engineering, QA/QC, surveying, and client teams throughout project delivery.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a Bachelor\'s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Applicants should bring at least 5 years of relevant experience on comparable roads and infrastructure projects, including a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the UAE.
Previous UAE construction supervision experience is preferred.
RTA Approval is preferred and provides a strong advantage for candidates working on Dubai transportation and road infrastructure projects.
