Role Context
The
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect stormwater drainage and microtunneling works to confirm compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, specifications, and project quality procedures.
* Review applicable codes, standards, construction details, and project requirements for pipelines, shafts, chambers, culverts, outfalls, and related civil structures.
* Monitor excavation, shoring, backfilling, microtunneling drives, shaft construction, reinforcement, concrete pouring, waterproofing, finishing, coating, and lining works.
* Verify alignment, gradients, levels, pipe routes, invert levels, structural tolerances, and construction dimensions against approved design requirements.
* Ensure contractor activities comply with Dubai Municipality, RTA, authority standards, approved quality control procedures, and project documentation.
* Record daily manpower, equipment, material deliveries, work locations, site progress, inspection outcomes, and contractor activities.
* Supervise concrete curing, coating, lining, and finishing works for stormwater structures and associated civil elements.
* Assist the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions, reviewing contractor responses, and verifying close-out of actions.
* Coordinate with contractors to resolve civil works issues, construction deviations, quality concerns, and site coordination problems.
* Prepare daily inspection reports with observations, progress updates, test results, safety notes, quality concerns, and pending actions.
* Support surveying and measurement verification for stormwater pipelines, manholes, chambers, shafts, pipe inverts, and civil structures.
* Monitor testing, commissioning, and handover activities for stormwater networks and associated infrastructure works.
* Assist in reviewing RFIs, method statements, variance requests, and technical documents related to civil construction activities.
* Coordinate with client representatives and authority inspectors during site inspections and record all comments, findings, and required follow-up actions.
* Maintain organized records of inspections, NCRs, test results, as-built updates, executed works, approvals, and supporting project documents.
* Report unsafe practices, non-conforming works, poor workmanship, and quality risks to the supervision team for timely corrective action.
* Follow up on corrective actions until civil works are verified, documented, and accepted in line with project requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent diploma.
* Minimum 7 years of experience in civil inspection, site supervision, or infrastructure construction quality monitoring.
* Proven experience in stormwater drainage and microtunneling projects.
* Experience on Dubai Municipality and RTA projects is required.
* Equivalency certification where applicable by jurisdiction.
* Strong understanding of pipelines, shafts, chambers, culverts, outfalls, excavation, shoring, backfilling, concrete works, waterproofing, coating, lining, and civil structure inspection.
* Ability to read and interpret approved drawings, shop drawings, method statements, specifications, RFIs, testing records, and quality documents.
* Good knowledge of Dubai Municipality, RTA, UAE construction practices, authority inspection requirements, and infrastructure project standards.
* Practical experience preparing daily reports, inspection records, NCR documentation, test result logs, and as-built verification records.
* Ability to coordinate with contractors, Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, survey teams, client representatives, and authority inspectors.
* Strong attention to detail, accurate field judgment, and the ability to identify construction defects or alignment issues before they affect project quality.
