Role Context
Accurate inspection is essential to maintaining the alignment, quality, and service life of trenchless infrastructure. The Civil Inspector will continuously observe assigned operations, document technical findings, and coordinate with project participants to ensure that
underground works meet approved requirements from excavation through reinstatement.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor microtunnelling, pipe-jacking, shaft construction, piling, and related civil activities.
* Compare executed work with approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and project standards.
* Inspect excavation, shaft preparation, tunnel drives, pipe installation, grouting, backfilling, and surface reinstatement.
* Check piling locations, installation methods, alignment, and required bearing conditions.
* Witness inspections and tests identified in approved inspection and test plans.
* Track line and level controls throughout each stage of trenchless construction.
* Observe tunnelling alignment, pipe-joint assembly, lubrication systems, and key operating parameters.
* Record construction observations and maintain clear evidence of inspection outcomes.
* Identify non-conforming work and communicate the required corrective measures to the relevant parties.
* Monitor corrective and preventive actions until the issue is properly resolved.
* Coordinate field inspections with engineers, contractors, surveyors, and utility stakeholders.
* Produce daily reports covering progress, inspections, technical concerns, and significant site events.
* Confirm adherence to project quality provisions, environmental controls, and health and safety regulations.
* Support the Resident Engineer with progress monitoring and resolution of microtunnelling issues.
Ideal Profile
The role requires an associate degree or bachelor\'s degree in an engineering, technical, or construction-related discipline. Candidates with a high school diploma may also be considered when they possess suitable technical qualifications and equivalent practical experience.
Applicants must bring at least five years of relevant construction or supervision experience involving microtunnelling, pipe jacking, or other trenchless technologies. Recent involvement in comparable works within the Emirate of Dubai will be viewed favorably.
A sound understanding of construction methods, drawings, specifications, and quality-control procedures is necessary. Candidates should communicate confidently in English and maintain accurate inspection records using standard computer applications.
