Key Responsibilities
* Carry out independent design of stormwater drainage systems for infrastructure, roads, urban development, and civil engineering projects.
* Develop sustainable drainage solutions, non-conventional drainage systems, smart drainage concepts, and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems.
* Prepare stormwater drainage designs based on urban drainage principles, Water Sensitive Design, hydrology, hydraulics, and site-specific performance requirements.
* Undertake hydraulic and system design for complex drainage environments, including surface drainage, piped networks, cross drainage, and flood-related analysis.
* Perform catchment analysis, hydrologic modeling, hydraulic calculations, design checks, drawings, and technical reports.
* Use InfoWorks ICM for hydrologic and hydraulic modeling related to stormwater drainage and flood management design.
* Apply SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS, CAD, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related design tools where required.
* Design culverts, urban drainage systems, highway drainage networks, and stormwater management solutions.
* Prepare calculation sheets and carry out mathematical checks to confirm that drainage designs are technically appropriate.
* Coordinate with CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling teams to ensure drawings and models reflect accurate design intent.
* Support junior engineers by reviewing work, sharing technical guidance, and helping improve design quality.
* Work across multiple project stages, from concept and planning through detailed design and documentation.
* Apply value engineering, innovative technologies, and practical design solutions to improve drainage performance and project efficiency.
* Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve design interfaces and support integrated infrastructure delivery.
* Perform additional technical responsibilities related to drainage design and water engineering as required.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate has solid experience in stormwater drainage design, hydrology, hydraulics, catchment analysis, and infrastructure design coordination. This role is well suited for an engineer who can combine technical modeling skills with practical civil engineering judgment and clear design documentation.
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline from a reputable university.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in infrastructure, civil engineering, water engineering, stormwater drainage design, or related projects.
* Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, catchment analysis, and urban drainage design.
* Proven experience designing culverts, highway drainage, urban drainage systems, piped networks, surface drainage, and cross drainage.
* Practical experience with InfoWorks ICM is required for this role.
* Knowledge of SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, CAD tools, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcMap, and GIS workflows.
* Understanding of Water Sensitive Design, Sustainable Drainage Design, and SuDS principles.
* Ability to prepare technical calculations, design reports, drawings, and drainage design documentation.
* Strong design coordination skills with CAD, BIM, civil, roads, utilities, and infrastructure teams.
* Master\'s degree in Water Engineering or Hydrology would be an advantage.
* Chartered Engineer status or progress toward CEng, PE, ICE, CIWEM, or similar professional qualification is preferred.
* Prior UAE or GCC infrastructure project experience will be an advantage.
* Strong written and spoken communication skills with a team-focused working approach.
