Core Duties
* Design stormwater drainage systems for infrastructure, roads, urban development, and civil engineering projects.
* Develop non-conventional drainage systems, smart drainage concepts, and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems for project-specific requirements.
* Prepare drainage designs using principles of urban drainage, hydrology, hydraulics, Water Sensitive Design, and SuDS.
* Carry out hydraulic and system design for complex drainage environments, including surface drainage, piped networks, cross drainage, and flood-related analysis.
* Undertake catchment analysis, hydrologic modeling, drainage calculations, technical drawings, and design reports.
* Use InfoWorks ICM for stormwater drainage modeling, hydraulic assessment, flood analysis, and network performance review.
* Apply SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcMap, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and CAD-based workflows where required.
* Design culverts, urban drainage systems, highway drainage networks, surface water systems, and stormwater management solutions.
* Prepare calculation sheets and perform mathematical checks to confirm that proposed designs are technically suitable.
* Coordinate with CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling teams to convert engineering design intent into accurate drawings and models.
* Support junior engineers with technical guidance, design checking, and practical drainage engineering input.
* Work across different project stages while taking responsibility for assigned drainage design deliverables.
* Apply value engineering, innovation, and practical design improvements to enhance drainage performance and project efficiency.
* Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve design interfaces and support integrated infrastructure delivery.
* Perform other drainage design and water engineering responsibilities as required by the project team.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate has practical drainage design experience, strong modeling capability, and a clear understanding of stormwater management for infrastructure and civil engineering projects. This role requires someone who can combine technical calculations, software-based modeling, design coordination, and clear reporting.
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline from a reputable university.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in infrastructure, civil engineering, water engineering, stormwater drainage design, or related projects.
* Experience in stormwater drainage design, catchment analysis, stormwater management, drainage planning, and flood-related studies.
* Sound knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, urban drainage design, surface water management, and drainage network behavior.
* Experience designing culverts, highway drainage, urban drainage systems, surface drainage, piped networks, and cross drainage.
* Practical experience with InfoWorks ICM is required for this role.
* Knowledge of SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcMap, GIS, and CAD tools.
* Ability to create calculation sheets and perform additional engineering calculations to verify design suitability.
* Knowledge of Water Sensitive Design and Sustainable Drainage Design.
* Good design coordination skills with CAD, BIM, roads, utilities, civil, and infrastructure teams.
* Master\'s degree in Water Engineering or Hydrology would be an advantage.
* Chartered Engineer status or progress toward CEng, PE, ICE, CIWEM, or similar professional qualification is preferred.
* Prior UAE or GCC infrastructure project experience is preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with good organization and a team-focused approach.
