Role Context
The Electro Mechanical Inspector will perform complex inspection tasks and continuous surveillance of assigned maintenance and construction activities across road and infrastructure assets. The role covers electrical and mechanical systems linked to transportation facilities, including lighting networks, traffic signal equipment, pumping stations, tunnel systems, building facilities, drainage interfaces, and related site development works.
This position contributes to safe public infrastructure, reliable asset performance, proper material control, accurate quantity reporting, and effective resolution of nonconforming works. It also supports safety practices, quality procedures, as-built record maintenance, and emergency site response when required.
What You\'ll Do
* Conduct periodic inspections of existing assets including road lighting systems, traffic signals, underpass lighting, under-bridge lighting, tunnel electromechanical systems, pumping stations, and related infrastructure equipment.
* Inspect construction, maintenance, and demolition activities connected to transportation facilities such as roads, streets, bridges, lighting networks, traffic systems, and pumping assets.
* Monitor installation of electrical equipment for traffic signals, ramp metering, street lighting, and associated control systems.
* Inspect installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment used in infrastructure, building, facility, and asset management works.
* Review site activities involving drainage works, traffic control arrangements, and SWPPP compliance requirements.
* Verify that works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, contract documents, codes, and applicable standards.
* Confirm that only approved materials are incorporated into the works and maintain supporting material documentation.
* Take daily project photographs and file them with proper records for progress and inspection reference.
* Maintain office files, quantity calculations, inspection records, daily diaries, as-built plans, and related project documentation.
* Prepare daily reports, activity summaries, and contract-required documentation with clear technical detail.
* Identify potential conflicts, site issues, nonconforming works, and technical problems, then report them to the supervisor with proposed corrective solutions.
* Collect, review, and file Certificates of Compliance, MSDS documents, inspection tags, and other material-related records.
* Coordinate with surveying and material testing subconsultants to support inspection and verification activities.
* Participate in job safety practice development, safety reporting, quality control reports, and inspection procedures.
* Report installed quantities to support payment applications, progress verification, and change order assessments.
* Respond to emergency call backs at the project site when required.
* Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors where needed.
* Assist with welder qualification test administration if required by project scope.
Ideal Profile
* Degree, associate degree, or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in asset management, maintenance, or inspection of infrastructure-related electrical and mechanical systems.
* Practical experience with road lighting, traffic signals, signage, underpass lighting, pumping stations, architectural systems, mechanical works, or electrical assets within Dubai.
* Experience on UAE road maintenance projects will be an advantage.
* Ability to read working drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements, with confidence in enforcing compliance on site.
* Strong understanding of inspection procedures, approved material control, site records, quantity verification, and nonconformance reporting.
* Experience in identifying defective or nonconforming works, preparing reports, recommending corrective actions, and coordinating responses.
* Solid ability to maintain accurate records, daily diaries, project photographs, as-built documentation, and activity reports.
* Fully computer literate with the ability to use technology for data access, reporting, record keeping, and project-specific engineering or construction software.
* Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, contractors, supervisors, and subconsultants.
* Strong attention to safety, quality, and compliance in active road and infrastructure environments.
