Position Overview
Electromechanical Engineer in Dubai will supervise and inspect electrical, mechanical, control, instrumentation, SCADA, traffic signal, and ITS works for infrastructure projects, ensuring all activities meet approved drawings, project specifications, authority requirements, and international engineering standards. This role is ideal for a site-focused engineering professional with strong construction supervision, quality control, testing, commissioning, and multidisciplinary coordination experience in the UAE.
Core Duties
* Supervise and inspect electromechanical works on-site, including electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation systems.
* Review shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, inspection and test plans, and as-built drawings for electromechanical components.
* Witness factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests for major equipment such as pumps, switchgear, control panels, SCADA systems, traffic signals, and ITS devices.
* Ensure all site works comply with DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, NFPA, IEC, and other applicable local and international standards.
* Identify non-conformances, prepare clear reports, follow up on corrective actions, and confirm resolution before system handover.
* Liaise with DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, Etisalat, DU, and other authorities for inspections, approvals, NOCs, and technical coordination.
* Coordinate with the contractor’s electromechanical team, civil teams, discipline engineers, and project stakeholders to resolve technical and interface issues.
* Ensure smooth integration of electrical and mechanical systems with civil works and other project disciplines.
* Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in line with approved procedures and project performance requirements.
* Review and verify operation and maintenance manuals, training documents, spare parts lists, and contractor handover submissions.
* Assist in punch list preparation, system performance verification, final inspections, and handover of electromechanical systems.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, commissioning activities, material deliveries, and site progress.
* Prepare daily and weekly reports covering electromechanical work progress, milestones, risks, and key site issues.
* Support claims review and variation order assessments related to electromechanical works.
* Provide technical support to site inspectors and junior engineers.
* Proactively identify technical challenges and recommend practical solutions to avoid delays, rework, and cost overruns.
* Support value engineering initiatives to improve electromechanical system efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
Required Skills and Experience
* Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
* Valid UAE Society of Engineers membership is preferred.
* Strong experience in construction supervision, electromechanical inspection, quality control, testing, commissioning, and infrastructure project delivery.
* Knowledge of UAE authority requirements, including DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, Etisalat, DU, and relevant approval processes.
* Familiarity with NFPA, IEC, local authority codes, project specifications, method statements, ITPs, and as-built documentation.
* Practical understanding of pumps, switchgear, control panels, SCADA systems, traffic signals, ITS devices, control systems, and instrumentation works.
* Ability to review technical submissions, identify compliance gaps, and coordinate corrective actions with contractors.
* Strong reporting, documentation, site coordination, and technical problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced project environment.
* Strong communication skills with the confidence to coordinate with contractors, consultants, authorities, and project stakeholders.
