Role Context

The EMC Expert - Rail Systems will provide specialist technical leadership across electromagnetic compatibility, stray current management, earthing and bonding, and noise and vibration control for a major rail infrastructure programme. The role connects design assurance, systems engineering, railway interfaces, rolling stock compatibility, airport-related integration, and commissioning verification into one controlled technical framework. By identifying interference risks early, validating design performance, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, the position helps protect system reliability, passenger safety, operational continuity, and long-term infrastructure performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide technical direction and expert advice on EMC, stray current, earthing and bonding, and noise and vibration matters throughout all project phases.
* Develop and implement EMC Management Plans, stray current control strategies, earthing and bonding schemes, and technical compliance processes.
* Lead technical reviews, engineering audits, design assessments, and compliance checks against contractual requirements, international standards, and project specifications.
* Identify technical risks related to EMC interference, stray current, grounding performance, system compatibility, noise, vibration, and operational reliability.
* Develop practical mitigation strategies for electromagnetic interference, stray current effects, bonding gaps, performance limitations, and interface conflicts.
* Review and approve technical specifications, engineering calculations, design drawings, system studies, modelling outputs, and specialist documentation.
* Apply advanced modelling and simulation tools to assess EMC behaviour, stray current performance, noise and vibration impacts, and system-level compatibility.
* Coordinate EMC, stray current, earthing and bonding, and noise and vibration requirements across rail systems, infrastructure, stations, power systems, and operational assets.
* Interface with signalling, ATC, CBTC, telecommunications, traction power, rolling stock, SCADA, AFC, and other railway subsystems to ensure compatibility.
* Support Systems Engineering processes including requirements management, interface definition, verification, validation, and requirements traceability.
* Coordinate airport-related interfaces where applicable, including passenger flow areas, operational systems, and Baggage Handling Systems.
* Contribute to rolling stock interface definition for express rail services to ensure EMC compatibility with infrastructure and railway systems.
* Oversee testing and commissioning activities, including test plan development, test procedure review, compliance verification, and performance validation.
* Review test results, analyze non-compliance issues, and recommend corrective actions to achieve required system performance.
* Collaborate with project managers, contractors, consultants, stakeholders, and specialist engineers to support integrated delivery within programme and budget requirements.
* Prepare and present technical reports, engineering updates, risk summaries, compliance findings, and recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.
* Conduct regular quality reviews to ensure engineering deliverables are accurate, consistent, traceable, and aligned with approved requirements.
* Support continuous improvement of engineering methods, review processes, modelling practices, and technical assurance procedures.
* Maintain effective coordination and communication across multidisciplinary project teams, suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from a recognized university.
* Minimum 15 years of experience in the AECO industry, railway engineering, transport infrastructure, or a relevant technical field.
* Minimum 15 years of specialist experience in EMC, stray current, earthing and bonding, or noise and vibration engineering within rail or transportation projects.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in rail projects or rail operations in the GCC or international markets.
* Proven experience on large-scale metro, subway, express railway, or major transportation infrastructure programmes.
* Extensive knowledge of technical scope management for large-scale infrastructure projects with complex systems interfaces.
* Strong knowledge of EMC standards and regulations, including IEC, EN, and IEEE standards.
* Experience using advanced modelling and simulation tools for EMC, stray current, noise and vibration, and system performance analysis.
* Strong understanding of rail systems integration involving signalling, telecommunications, traction power, rolling stock, SCADA, AFC, and operational interfaces.
* Experience in airport integration, including passenger flow interfaces and Baggage Handling Systems coordination, will be an advantage.
* Familiarity with rolling stock requirements for express rail services and associated system interfaces.
* Understanding of passenger and baggage planning interfaces within major transport hubs.
* Experience in testing and commissioning, including development and execution of test plans, validation procedures, and compliance verification.
* Experience in client-facing or consultancy roles with strong stakeholder management capability.
* Familiarity with systems engineering principles, requirements control, interface management, and verification processes.
* Strong leadership, coordination, communication, reporting, and presentation skills across multidisciplinary teams.
* Understanding of project delivery processes, construction management, cost control, commercial considerations, and large-scale programme execution.
* Ability to interpret complex technical documents and provide clear, practical, and evidence-based recommendations.
