The role helps project teams understand subsurface conditions, evaluate geotechnical risks, assess settlement and stability, review ground improvement solutions, and provide practical engineering input for reclaimed platforms, quay walls, revetments, coastal protection, buildings, roads, utilities, foundations, and retaining structures.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and supervise geotechnical site investigations for island, coastal, reclaimed land, nearshore, and marine environments.
* Coordinate marine and nearshore investigation activities with marine operations teams, surveyors, contractors, and project stakeholders.
* Log soil and rock cores, classify materials, review borehole information, and prepare factual ground investigation records.
* Specify suitable laboratory testing for coastal soils, marine deposits, reclaimed materials, coral formations, calcarenite, fill, and rock samples.
* Interpret laboratory and field test results to derive geotechnical parameters for design and technical reporting.
* Perform geotechnical analyses for island infrastructure including quay walls, revetments, reclaimed platforms, buildings, roads, utilities, and coastal protection works.
* Prepare design calculations for shallow foundations, deep piles, raft foundations, ground improvement systems, and retaining structures.
* Evaluate ground improvement options for reclaimed land, soft marine deposits, high groundwater areas, and settlement-sensitive project zones.
* Support design and performance assessment for land reclamation, breakwaters, revetments, seawalls, shore protection, and waterfront structures.
* Analyze settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, consolidation, and deformation issues associated with reclamation fill and surcharge loading.
* Review dredging, backfilling, compaction, and reclamation methodologies from a geotechnical performance and constructability perspective.
* Provide geotechnical input during construction by reviewing contractor method statements, temporary works proposals, equipment selection, and site execution approaches.
* Plan and interpret geotechnical monitoring for island structures, reclamation areas, slopes, retaining systems, and coastal infrastructure.
* Prepare factual reports, interpretive geotechnical reports, design memoranda, technical notes, calculation summaries, and project-specific recommendations.
* Coordinate with marine surveyors and land surveyors to define investigation locations, levels, alignments, and monitoring points.
* Use geotechnical analysis software and engineering judgement to prepare traceable calculations and support practical design decisions.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, or a closely related discipline.
* Minimum 12 years of geotechnical engineering experience on infrastructure, coastal, marine, island, port, harbor, offshore, or reclamation projects.
* Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, ground investigation methods, field testing, laboratory testing, and geotechnical design principles.
* Experience planning and interpreting ground investigations for marine, nearshore, reclaimed land, and coastal environments.
* Ability to derive geotechnical parameters from laboratory results, field testing, borehole logs, and investigation data.
* Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software packages used for foundation design, slope stability, settlement analysis, and retaining structure assessment.
* Ability to prepare clear, traceable design calculations, design summaries, technical notes, and geotechnical reports.
* Experience with island developments, coastal resorts, ports, harbors, offshore platforms, waterfront developments, or land reclamation projects is preferred.
* Familiarity with geotechnical challenges in island environments, including soft marine clays, coral or calcarenite formations, high groundwater levels, coastal erosion, and reclaimed fill behavior.
* Knowledge of seawall, breakwater, revetment, and quay wall geotechnical design principles is preferred.
* Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with designers, marine teams, surveyors, contractors, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams.
* Practical engineering mindset with strong attention to risk, constructability, documentation, and long-term ground performance.
