Role Context
This position supports AECOM\'s Transportation business line within its Middle East and Africa operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform geotechnical engineering tasks within multidisciplinary project teams.
* Plan and support ground investigations for infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
* Collect, review and interpret geotechnical investigation data.
* Assess soil, rock and groundwater parameters using established engineering procedures.
* Develop geotechnical ground models for different design conditions.
* Complete engineering calculations, analyses and technical assessments.
* Prepare geotechnical reports, calculations and technical specifications.
* Develop recommendations for foundations, earthworks and ground-treatment requirements.
* Propose practical solutions to technical challenges encountered during project delivery.
* Identify inconsistencies in engineering data and recommend corrective measures.
* Support shallow and deep foundation design.
* Contribute to earthworks and embankment assessments.
* Perform slope stability analyses and develop appropriate design solutions.
* Assess excavation and lateral support systems.
* Support ground-improvement design and liquefaction assessments.
* Coordinate with internal disciplines, clients, contractors and consultants.
* Provide geotechnical support during design and construction.
* Deliver assigned work within approved budgets and schedules.
* Maintain compliance with project quality standards and technical requirements.
* Provide technical guidance to graduate and entry-level engineers.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited university in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
* Suitable disciplines include Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Foundation Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Rock Mechanics, Rock Engineering or Mining Engineering.
* Two to eight years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
* Experience with geotechnical investigations, design and construction support.
* Ability to assess and interpret ground-investigation data.
* Practical experience in at least three specified geotechnical design areas.
* Master\'s degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
* Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer or equivalent registration is advantageous.
* Relevant professional registration in the UAE, Qatar or Bahrain is desirable where applicable.
* Knowledge of contracts covering investigations, surveys and construction works.
* Combined design consultancy and site-engineering experience is preferred.
* Experience with geophysical surveys or seismic geotechnical design is advantageous.
* Dam engineering or advanced numerical-modelling experience is beneficial.
* Strong analytical, reporting and multidisciplinary coordination abilities.
