Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal audit policies and procedures in alignment with international standards and best practices
- Conduct independent audits of building construction, ensuring compliance with authority requirements, permits, as-built documentation, and operational manuals
- Audit and supervise civil works, including reinforcement, concrete, blockwork, plaster, waterproofing, tiling, false ceilings, stone cladding, glazing, marble, and swimming pool installations
- Evaluate design documentation, including drawings and technical specifications, to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements
- Monitor construction contracts, identifying risks and assessing contract performance for financial and operational efficiency
- Perform quality assurance and quality control audits, verifying non-conformance reports and ensuring proper close-out documentation
- Review and validate material inspection requests (MIRs), work inspection requests (WIRs), method statements, material submittals, shop drawings, test reports, and payment applications
- Identify delays in construction progress and conduct variance analysis between planned and actual schedules
- Conduct investigations on construction irregularities and recommend corrective and preventive measures
- Assess and mitigate business and financial risks through the effective implementation of internal controls
- Compile and execute the annual internal audit plan, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to management
- Collaborate with various departments to enhance compliance, governance, and risk management practices
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction auditing and risk assessment
- Strong knowledge of UAE construction regulations, building codes, and compliance standards
- Expertise in reviewing construction contracts, quality control measures, and financial risk management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication and reporting abilities to present findings and recommendations effectively
- Familiarity with auditing tools, construction management software, and documentation best practices
