Key Responsibilities
* Support the design of dry utilities networks for major infrastructure projects, including power, telecom, and related electrical utility systems.
* Prepare design calculations, engineering drawings, material quantity take-offs, cost estimates, technical reports, and supporting design documents.
* Assist senior engineers with daily electrical design tasks, coordination inputs, and design development activities.
* Work on HV, MV, and LV electrical network design in line with local authority requirements, international standards, and project specifications.
* Apply standard electrical engineering theories, industry codes, and company procedures to basic and conventional design assignments.
* Use CAD, CAE, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and BIM-based environments to support design development, technical coordination, and constructability review.
* Provide technical input to CAD designers and drafters to ensure drawings reflect the design intent accurately.
* Review drawings for accuracy, clarity, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
* Support design work related to primary substations, HV corridors, distribution substations, pocket substations, feeder pillars, MV systems up to 33kV, and LV networks.
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to align dry utilities design with roads, infrastructure, civil works, and other project interfaces.
* Assist in checking compliance with applicable standards such as NEC, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, NFPA, IEC, and relevant GCC utility authority requirements.
* Maintain organized design records, calculations, reports, and technical documentation for project review and submission.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
* Minimum 2.5 years of experience in dry utilities network design, preferably on infrastructure projects.
* Recent experience in HV, MV, and LV electrical design using local and international standards.
* Good understanding of infrastructure utility design requirements, including substations, HV corridors, feeder pillars, MV networks, LV systems, calculations, and report writing.
* Familiarity with GCC authority standards such as DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, FEWA, SEC, MEDC, Civil Defense, and related approval requirements.
* Working knowledge of Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM coordination, and CAD-based design workflows.
* Experience with ETAP software is an advantage.
* Proficiency in MS Excel for calculations, schedules, quantity take-offs, and design support.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow engineering procedures and support multiple design tasks.
* Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with engineers, designers, drafters, and multidisciplinary project teams.
