Role Context
The Land Surveyor - Field Works will provide accurate survey support for infrastructure construction teams by verifying lines, levels, coordinates, existing services, completed quantities, and as-built information. The role helps ensure that works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, construction tolerances, safety requirements, and site procedures. Accurate surveying in this position directly supports utility protection, quality control, progress verification, and successful project close-out.
Key Responsibilities
* Review project drawings, specifications, work documents, and survey requirements before performing site survey activities.
* Carry out land surveys, field surveys, setting-out works, level checks, and geodetic calculations for infrastructure, roads, and utilities works.
* Supervise survey-related activities on site and ensure survey outputs support accurate construction execution.
* Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and construction supervision teams to confirm survey needs and field priorities.
* Complete assigned survey tasks within approved schedules, man-hour allowances, and project cost requirements.
* Verify locations of existing services and utilities to help prevent damage during excavation, construction, and site development activities.
* Operate Total Station, GPS equipment, levelling machines, data collectors, and related survey tools with accuracy and care.
* Maintain survey equipment properly and report calibration, performance, or maintenance concerns when required.
* Prepare field sketches, survey notes, marked-up drawings, and supporting information for construction teams and project records.
* Maintain complete survey documentation including field books, calculations, sketches, coordinate records, measurements, and digital survey files.
* Measure completed work when required and assist with progress checks, quantity verification, and payment-related measurement records.
* Support preparation of as-built drawings by collecting accurate site data and confirming final constructed positions.
* Use CAD software and survey software to process survey data, prepare outputs, and support project documentation.
* Observe all site safety procedures while working around roads, utilities, construction equipment, excavations, and active work zones.
* Follow project HSE procedures and participate in safety requirements related to field survey activities.
* Provide timely survey information to support inspections, construction coordination, technical clarifications, and issue resolution.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related technical discipline.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in infrastructure, roads, and utilities projects.
* Strong hands-on experience with Total Station, GPS equipment, levelling machines, data collectors, CAD software, and survey software.
* Good understanding of setting-out procedures, geodetic calculations, level verification, field measurement, and as-built data collection.
* Practical knowledge of roadworks, utilities, construction sequencing, service protection, and infrastructure site requirements.
* Working knowledge of standard construction procedures and industry work practices is preferred.
* Consultancy or construction supervision experience is an advantage.
